how do you open the bag the first time

Just above the red line on the top portion on the front of the bag, you should be able insert your fingers in the slight opening and pull to disengage closed seal fixture, like that used in ziplock bags.

Is it okay to microwave?

I microwave it 5+ days a week. I put 5/8 cup oats in a large bowl (to prevent overflow), add some cinnamon and 1 cup of water. I set my 950 watt microwave for 6 minutes with heat setting at 8 (of 10). Results are good every time. Then I stir in a handful of fresh blueberries.

Can I soak these in milk overnight?

Yes! I use this for overnight oatmeal, 2 TBS oats, some greek yogurt, 1 TBS chia seeds, 1/2 t. ceylon cinnamon, dash of vanilla and maple syrup, stir till blended; then add 1 cup oat milk and stir to combine, then soak for at least 15 hours. In the morning I add frozen blueberries or any fruit, stir, put in the microwave for 1 minute to take the chill off, and it's fabulous!!!
