Focusing on bones and joints, blood and the heart, lungs and breathing, the digestive system, brain, nerves, senses, and the life cycle, Pocket Genius: Human Body is a head-to-toe look at our body and how it works. With images and content appropriate for young readers, Pocket Genius: Human Body looks at this amazing machine from the outer skin to the tiniest cells and tackles tough questions like, What are reflexes? Why do we need food? and How does the heart beat? Redesigned in paperback, DK's best-selling Pocket Genius series is now available in an engaging compact and economical format that is ideal for both browsing and quick reference for use in school and at home. Catalog entries packed with facts provide at-a-glance information, while locator icons offer immediately recognizable references to aid navigation and understanding, and fact files round off the book with fun facts such as record breakers and timelines. Each pocket-size encyclopedia is filled with facts on subjects ranging from animals to history, cars to dogs, and Earth to space and combines a child-friendly layout with engaging photography and bite-size chunks of text that will encourage and inform even the most reluctant readers. Review: Great - As a great little book, granddaughter seven and eight years old really enjoyed it. The size was great for their hands and readability was easy. Review: Great, concise little book with a lot of info - I got this to supplement our homeschool study of the human body. The main book I'm using for my first grader is DK First Human Body Encyclopedia (which has been criticized for not having much about the reproductive system- that's another review). We love that book, but this is a great addition to our studies, with a lot of details the encyclopedia doesn't have- including the reproductive system. We do our main reading from the DK book, and I pull this out when we want to find out more. It is pocket-sized, obviously, but is very informative and has great illustrations. Love this book! Very reasonably priced too...

My grandson loves this book!
While looking for something else, I came across this series of pocket books, which turned out to be a lucky break. I ordered several books in the series, but his one on the Human Body was the first one that my 6-year-old grandson dived into. He has said repeatedly that it is his favorite of the batch of books I bought for him and his 9-year-old brother. It will be interesting to see if the subject continues to hold his interest in the coming years.

The book is very good quality, pictures are colorful and interesting
Purchased this book for my 8 year old son for Christmas. The book is very good quality, pictures are colorful and interesting. Contains a lot of interesting facts that are great for kids, he has enjoyed "grossing out" his friends (and us) with interesting tidbits about the human body.

Great book
Great book for kids and adults that need to help their kid with projects. Not to happy it explains how babies are made when it's for ages 6 to 8 but overall a great book with lots of information
