These 14x20x1 HVAC Merv 8 are the best fitting filters for my 2004 Goodman. They are constructed very well. Now heres the best way to explain these: they fit perfectly into the opening for the filter better than any other filter has fit because I am not sure why but at the top of the filter slot I have had always a problem installing a filter of any kind because there’s a sharp ledge at the top that I have always had to raise the filter up and down to get it to fit from expensive filters to cheap filters and I am pleased that this filter was a breeze to install!!! So that being said I am definitely sold on this brand! As a rule of thumb for saving $ and also being confident that my HVAC system is working properly I have always listened to my furnace man and I change the filter once a month as a preventative measure = 1 because he recommended having a Labrador Retriever puppy girl and dogs hair as hers do make a lot of hair and have the system working harder. =2 I’m ocd about being clean. = 3 which should be overall the best thing is keeping your system running smoothly and saving you money and costly repairs down the road, the system is priced so high if I had to replace it now. I have marked this with a save mark! Will be buying these definitely again!

I live in an apartment complex and the Management changes them only twice a year. I like to do it monthly so I buy my own and these work great. Far better quality than the Management uses too. I Have to cram them in but I dont think its the size of the product I think the HVAC in this unit is not made right. On the side of the HVAC says to use these Filters. And when I go to remove the one the Management installs I have to take it out in pieces. Its obvious they have a very difficult time getting theirs installed.

Due to allergies had to start changing my filter myself. My apartment complex will only change them once a year and I need more frequent changes than that. Was so happy that I could purchase filters from Amazon.

I originally purchased these because I was reading that most older HVAC systems should not have restrictive filters, and I was using MERV 13. After about 3 months, they would be caked in dust and I would change them. I didn't even think it would be too restrictive until switching to these Amazon MERV 8 (The highest recommended for old HVAC systems.) Now when the AC kicks on, I no longer hear the vents and filters "pull"/"crinkle" with the sudden increase in air pressure from when the blower kicks on.In addition to that... I found out my HVAC is currently 28 years old in 2026. So this would definitely fit the bill of keeping a low restriction filter with a MERV rating no higher than 8. An HVAC guy told me that the filters aren't for your air quality, they're to prevent contaminants getting to the HVAC. If you want air quality, buy a separate air filter to run in your home.The price is also dirt cheap, so you can't go wrong.
