Bosch moisture meter UniversalHumid (precise results thanks to wood group selection and LED traffic light for easy interpretation)

As a wood turner using a great deal of green wood this Bosch meter is a great tool for monitoring the drying helping me with split cracked wood hopefully paying for itself over the coming months, easy to use and recommended

Best one yet. Great for testing logs before they go on the fire.

Seems to work well. Can’t really comment on accuracy as nothing to calibrate against but no reason to doubt it. It has prompted us to put some logs to one side to dry out bit further. Was also crucial when doing some timber window repairs to ensure wood was sufficiently dry to take resin filler. Only issue is the little magnetic cover, it falls off in use but ok in storage. All together recommended.

handy to shove in your pocket when shopping for fire wood, or when choosing what to bring in from your wood store. Can select the type of wood to test for better accuracy. No idea overall how accurate it is as I only have this tester, but seems to match claims from packet wood you buy from Tesco/Wickes etc.

This thing takes 3AAA Batteries, so to deliberately p*ss you off, of course, they send 2 batteries! Good job I have a post-pandemic supply of Duracell and not had to rely these cheap rubbish batteries, of which 1 is missing. Just prodded my writing desk with it, according to the meter it is 8% moisture. Then prodded a log, which it claims has 15%. Not sure I trust this reading, much, the desk's been by a radiator for years and the log's been seasoned outside. Also, instead of simple at a glance, instructions, it comes with a novel-sized booklet, full of waffle and irrelevancies. All we need to know is how to use it in the simplest terms possible. Any idiot can overcomplicate a problem. Maybe they don't depict how to insert the batteries because they are scamming by only sending two.

Costs significantly more than the budget ones - but it works, it is reliable, and it lasts, whereas the budget ones I had (small rectangular style) seemed to die rather quickly. Well worth paying the extra in my view

Vergleicht man dann diese Werte mit meinem alten Geräten, können Sie sich vorstellen wo die alten Geräte nun sind. ✔Mein kurzes Fazit: ↪️Lieber gleich was vernünftiges kaufen, und dieses Gerät ist für zuhause genau das richtige. We installed a new woodstove in our home this month and the wood needs to be less than 20% moisture. I looked at dozens of moisture meters and was wholly unimpressed until I came across this Bosch branded one. I was a bit hesitant to order since it was coming from the UK but it arrived a WEEK before it was scheduled to. As for the meter itself, it is extremely well built and is not slippery in the hand. It appears to give accurate readings (we don't have another meter to test alongside with it but we know how long much of our wood has been seasoned to give us a general idea). The prongs are very solid and sharp and pierce any wood we have tried very easily (and they can be replaced if needed though I don't know where one would source them). The cap that covers the pins has a magnetic side that slides onto the back perfectly when in use. There are lights (red, yellow, green) that light up telling you if the wood is dry enough in addition to an LCD screen (that is very easy to read) stating the actual moisture content. Overall this is a very reliable and well built device that I would recommend. The only 'flaw' is that even when the device is turned off it drains the batteries. After having gone through two sets in a couple weeks (and only using the meter less than an hour in total) we now take the batteries out when we are done measuring logs and store them in the box with the meter.
