Takes time but it works
My materials ended up being under $10 per "plate". I bought a bag of concrete and used a bathroom scale to split the bag exactly in half. I messed up and bought 18in rebar which I cut in half meaning I had 9 in sections rather than 1 ft. As a result both, plates weight exactly 44 lbs. I plan to do two more and hopefully get it right. Demolding takes time but I was able to slide a thin screw driver down inside the mold to loosen it. I left the pvc pipe long and turned the mold upside down to gently tap the mold as I rotated it.If you're looking to save money and you're willing to take the time to do it right, this is a great way to make some plates and save yourself some serious money.

ABSOLUTE TRASH
Does not hold 45lbs. of concrete, cheap 1/16" plastic breaks almost instantly.

Cool product!
Cool product! I followed instructions directly from website and first few plates have turned out great. I used fast setting concrete (Quickrete) and so far holding up well. Final weight came to about 42 lbs as this concrete required more water than package directed to get lettering nice. I would definitely use the higher strength concrete instead if you plan on dropping weights. Plates are fairly easy to make, you need to be very gentle demolding to avoid cracking the mold. I was able to demold mine at 24 hrs. Recommend to flip upside down and rest whole weight on PVC pipe, then gently peel around edges until mold wiggles off. Great way to save money during pandemic as prices of weights have skyrocketed.

Great idea, crappy product
I am an experienced concrete user, from full driveways to tons of concrete counters and table tops. I loved the idea of these, wish I had thought of it, and bought two (since most bagged mixes are 80lbs) in order to turn out as many plates as I could for a new leg press machine. One mold has worked well, the other cracked on the first use. Same mix, same release agent, same technique. These have to cost about 98 cents to make. Hopefully the manufacturer will refund. Don't buy these.

Okay product. Really needs to be thicker.
The mold dosen't hold 45lbs of concrete without rebar. Its 10 times too thin to make decasing the mold workable and it just suffers tears as you try and free your weight from the mold. Seller has reached out to make me whole, if all goes as planned I'll change this to 4 stars as customer service is excellent. The mold was replaced as promised. It has been my limited experience that you need to use a lot of silicone spray. I would suggest spraying the mold a day before use and place in an airtight bag overnight. Respray before casting your first weight.Remember to not spray the portion you will affix the PVC to. Visit seller's website for more instructional information. Predetermine what weights you want and cast the smaller poundages first. This will give you some practice and the smaller weights are easier to demold, not to mention less expensive if something goes wrong. Use fiberglass reinforcement fibers. Mold still too thin, returned for refund, reduced to 3 stars.

No complaints
As long as you know how to pour concrete and be patient this is so much better than over spending on over prices pre made weights 10/10 would buy again.
