Signstek DSO213 Handheld Digital Oscilloscope with 4 Channels, 15MHz

Just got this scope today so only a first impression review but I played around with it a little bit and seems solid and I'm excited to really use it. However, either the connectors on the probes or the connectors on the scope itself aren't that great because I already had a pin break off in the scope. Luckily I was about to pull it out. I've already bought new probes and adapters.

Note: this device requires being connected to a PC USB port for firmware updating.Windows 10 does not recognize the device. Windows XP does recognize the device correctly as a USB drive.This is a huge piece of Junk!When you first open the box, you have to install Firmware furnished on a CD.The documentation cautions you that if the install fails for whatever reason, that you could possibly "Brick" the device. I installed the Firmware as instructed. The Docs direct you to a Chinese language website to download the latest Firmware.I downloaded the latest files and performed the update.The device failed to boot up!For all practical purposes, it was "Bricked".I searched for different sets of files from the same website and downloaded them until the device finally began to boot up and function.If you are new to oscilloscopes, this is NOT the tool for you.The documentation is slim and offers No useful information on how to use the device.I've gone to the forum website, which is entirely in Chinese and found no help.Spend the money on a device that you can also get a users guide on how to use it as an oscilloscope.At present its nothing more than a multi-meter.

Its a good hobbyist scope. The display is smaller then i thought making it hard to see very fine imperfections in a signal.. all in all its not bad. I had to return mine because aftert a few weeks the screen would shut off at almost exactly 4 minutes every time. We couldn't figure it out. Not a battery issue or setting. Something in the hardware. I was bummed because it really was nice for the price.

Es muy difícil de ajustar mejor dicho imposible lo usé una sola vez chequé un sensor de oxígeno en mi carro y al querer ajustarlo para checar otra parte del carro lo desajusté y no tengo el manual es una mala inversión prende pero no lo puedo ajustar

Very good piece of equipment but not for beginners , more information is needed what selling this tool as to what it's most suitable for .

I'm using this scope for audio. In particular, to see where my head unit and amps begin to clip. Almost bought an SMD "distortion detector", but those are only good for 2 freqs. I wanted to be able to check for distortion at any freq. I found that my midbass amp will clip at 200hz at lower gain than it will at 1000hz.I also bought some rca adapters to test the hu (it clips at 33/35 at 100hz). Very happy with this purchase!

Software is very rough and UI is awful turning each use into a real chore. If you are not into customizing the firmware or installing one of the very buggy firmwares, get another one.

The unit is very handy. It does need some kind of protective case for field measurements
