I absolutely love this knife. I've gotten to a point in my life where I like to buy items that will last for multiple years and accomplish multiple purposes and this checks both boxes. The body is a durable plastic and the locking mechanism is made of metal and very simple yet effective meaning it should last for a long long time. The blades that come with this kit are phenomenal. Even if I were to buy another knife I will continue to use these blades. They are shorter and thicker than standard hobby blades with a more severe angle on them. They allow for better control and detail on small work while being sharp enough still to do anything a standard hobby blade would. Would buy again over and over

This should be in every tabletop miniature gaming hobbyists toolkit! Quality blades from a Japanese company that’s been in the business with good history. The blades are the perfect size to work with miniatures — both the cutting blade for precise cuts — and the non-cutting side for removing burrs and cleaning up mold lines. The weight is also perfect as it can be used for long periods of time without fatigue.

The tiny blade, the many extra blades that it comes with, the awl attachment, and the creasing tool at the other end - all perfection. Excellent for collage work as it is easy to cut small details. Good weight, easy to hold. Don’t know how I did without it for so long. Get it.

I do tons of mixed media collage work and have a ton of small detail cuts in my work. I previously always bought the discount hobby knife sets, but found the quality of the cuts were terrible. I constantly had to go back and clean up or the blades dulled very quickly. I cannot be happier with this product. The blades are very sharp and hold an edge for a long time. I only have to make one pass on my cuts and it works excellent in tight corner cuts also. I love the you can easily adjust the length of the blade on this knife. Easy to load the blades in the holder - it's thin as a pencil. I also find I can use less pressure to cut. Overall just excellent quality and outstanding product. I will only use this brand knife and blades now.

It is a good hobby knife that I use for plastic model kits. Just wished it had a chisel blade option for the tight areas.

Sharp blade refills included which are smaller i.e. half size compared to Exacto #11 blades. Tamiya, Feather, NT Cutter and this brand (Olfa) are the some of the higher quality and largest Japanese blade and knife mfrs. which have these super quality sharp micro blades. Of course Chinese mfrs. also make these micro blades nowadays which will fit this holder which is the better of the variety. These micro blades IMO are much easier to control in tight space situations for scale modeling compared to your avg. Exacto #11 blade.

I just finished a very difficult masking job on a scale model car. It was the first time I used my new AK-5 hobby knife. To say I’m impressed would be an understatement. First of all, like all Olfa blades, it is straight razor sharp. It comes with 30 blades so having a fresh blade for each task is recommended. It trims Tamiya tape like a laser beam. The pleasant surprise was the very handy burnishing tool on the end. It gets into the smallest corners to stick the tape down real good….then flip it around and your trimming blade is right in your hand. How easy is that?! Also included, is a needle point which comes in handy in soooooo many ways. I bought a second AK-5 just to have this little tool available without having to change the blade to the needle. The chrome Hasegawa film on the tiny trim strip on top of the fenders of this XKE that I’m working on is trimmed perfectly...looks like it was painted on thanks to the excellent ability of the OLFA blade. However tedious it is, I’m sure this Olfa knife will make the job easier.

Second time buying this knife. Super sharp and with all those extra blades, it lasts me over a year and I’m a paper artist. The tips can break easily if you’re too forceful and cutting at the wrong angle but so long as you’re careful, it’s perfect.

Durable blades, and plentiful amount of blades. I use these for my model kits and each blade last ages as long as you don't purposefully use too much force. Sharp, very sharp... I learnt a lesson... Easy to use but gotta be careful and have patience. Fairly grippy with the metal which allows your fingertips to stay cold and prevent sweat. Comes with a case that allows you to dispose of used blades, but is a pain to open the other side... Relatively cheap and high quality, lots of blades so it'll last a long time.

Really precise knife for hobbyists
