JBL Partybox 310 - Portable Party Speaker with Long Lasting Battery, Powerful JBL Sound and Exciting Light Show,Black

I bought this for outdoor use - taking to baseball tournaments, patio parties, picnics, etc. I have not tried using it for any professional purpose (DJ, live shows, karaoke). I have been using it for a few months now. Pros: -The sound on the speaker is amazing. At max volume, I can flood an entire baseball field with "Green Onions" and have gotten tons of compliments on how great it sounds by people at the ballpark. The bass can be tweaked in the app with the touch of a button, and I love switching between deep and punchy depending on the song. -The speaker is so far holding up very well. I am putting some miles on the handle, wheels, and lugging it over all kinds of terrain like rocky parking lots, grassy fields, dusty dirt paths. Is it getting kinda dirty? Yeah. Has it come down with a few scratches? Sure. But all in all, it is holding up better than I expected with all the bumps and jiggling. I haven't dealt with moisture yet, but it is supposed to be able to withstand any thing besides being submerged (not an issue on solid ground, typically). -The battery life is great. I can charge it up overnight and take it to the park for the next couple of days playing near max volume and I have yet to run out of juice with it. Stated battery life is 18 hours and I have tested up to ~10 without issue. -Comes with a USB port that you can use to charge up your phone or other portable devices with the speaker's battery. It's not fast charging capable, but it will keep your device from draining and boost it slowly over time if you turn the screen off. It's a small detail but I find it very convenient since without my phone the speaker is a giant paperweight. -The lights are cool, but I have yet to really use them. They are bright enough to be visible during the day and are a cool feature, but I just haven't found myself using them much. Cons -Thing is a bit heavy. Not too heavy so that my wife can't lift it and lug it around, but it certainly dampens it's portability. 10 lbs less somehow and this thing would be amazingly portable. Unless you're taking it over smooth, even ground you will be a bit tired if you have to take it further than 50-100 yards. So, not the speaker to take on a hike - definitely the speaker to take car camping. I would have liked to see slightly wider wheels on it, as the roller-blade like wheels on it now can get be unsteady when hitting bumps in a sidewalk and cause the speaker to start rocking - when this happens just stop, let it settle, and start moving forward again. Otherwise, the rocking momentum will build and cause it to try and tip over. I think fatter wheels would give it more stability when being pulled by the telescoping handle. -Some folks may not like the scratches it will take in moving it around everywhere. I see these as a patina from being put to good use - as long as it still works fine and the handle/wheels hold up, I do not mind some scratches or discoloration. I'm using it outdoors and taking it to so many places that I think expecting something to come out looking pristine is unreasonable. -One feature I wish that it had (and maybe could be added to the app in a future update) is a fade in/fade out button for when I'm transitioning songs (or if I was making an announcement and needed a short break in the song). An abrupt pause and start can be distracting to listeners, and it would be cool if I could just push a button in the app and it would automatically start fading out over 5-10 seconds, then start fading up. I can do this manually with my volume buttons but I usually don't because it is clunky. Overall, great bluetooth speaker. Well-designed, looks great, and I have yet to take it somewhere without drawing a compliment. People ask where I got it, what brand it is ("Ohhhh yeah JBL, they are really nice"), etc. It is a bit of an investment for the price, but I am using it weekly and expect to continue using it for years to come. After my experience using the speaker, my opinion is that the price is justified by the quality and functionality.

Sound Quality - Sounds just as you'd like it to, and more. What is more, you may ask? Simply put: I was hearing instruments in songs that I've never heard before when using car speakers, phone speakers, or AirPods. Specifically higher pitched noises. The sound is crisp, and the bass is plentiful (with the option to crank it of course). Battery Life - Out of the box, using for 4 hours with my iPhone at volume 10 out of 16 and the light show on, the percentage ended at 77%. That is pretty on par with the description of the battery life that JBL gives you. Of course it will degrade over time, but you can't beat 3.5 hour charge time for ~16 hour battery life. Even if the battery life drops to 12 hours, that is still a big battery. Portability - Yes. I am a 136lb 5' 8" shrimp, and I can tote this speaker like nobody's business. There is a suitcase-style retractable handle (with a soft grip) in addition to a static/firm/built in handle (with a soft grip) that you can carry sideways with another built in handle near the wheels (no soft grip). Carrying it is easy and comfortable. Wheeling it around is easy thanks to the soft wheels that it bears. I wouldnt recommend *carrying* it with the suitcase handle. Maybe it will break. Maybe not. Don't find out. (You can definitely wheel it with the handle). The manual says to wheel at a 60* angle maximum, but this thing can wheel at pretty much whatever you are comfortable with *without scratching the ground*. Visuals - It looks clean. Classic black and orange JBL scheme. The light show is fantastic, with the white strobes flashing to the bass and the circular leds flashing to everything else (and the bass). You can also pick from a variety of light shows from the JBL app. DJ Controls - I have no use for them as I intend to use this simply as a speaker that is loud. They work as you'd expect, and you can load more from the JBL app. The equalizer is a fun touch. "But our phones have equalizers too..." yeah except you can turn on Echo for the speaker, which, you guessed it, is a smaller echo of the song. You can control the intensity of the echo. In a party setting, I could only imagine this would pop off with Karaoke. In addition, Karaoke gutair and mic has their own set of EQ knobs for a very precise tune. Volume - It's loud. It's so loud that having the volume at 8 of 16 on my iPhone with bass boost 1 or 2 activated would hurt my ears after being 4 feet away from it while it was pointed away from me and on the opposite side of a wall. 12 of 16 and I could hear it all the way across the Burger King that I work at, and I could faintly hear music all the way at the dumpsters outside (about 130 feet away. Keep in mind the speaker was inside and I was outside). This is probably the loudest speaker I've heard in a long time, if not, the loudest I've ever heard. And, yea, it still sounds nice from far away. Cons - You can seriously hurt you ears with this speaker. Of course, you'd have to have prolonged exposure at max settings. But still, be wary. This isn't a true con since earbuds can also damage your ears. It's just more of a warning to those of y'all that haven't had a hot and heavy speaker before that this is big Bertha but only breakfast. Cons - The speaker can be oriented in 3 ways: standing, on one side, or on the other side. The speaker is not meant to have the front facing up. Not a big deal Cons - There really is nothing major to complain about except the price, but trust me, you get what you pay for.

Awesome speaker, great app! Perfect for parties, camping, working in the yard, etc. Battery life has been great so far. I haven't timed it or anything but I can run it for hours when I'm doing yardwork. I currently have it in the garage plugged in so I can tinker in there and listen to music. It's large so if you want something really portable you might want something smaller but the collapsible handle and the wheels make it reasonably easy to roll around and I can lift it and carry it a decent distance using the built-in handle on the body. Friends of mine take them camping and to parties and BBQs all the time and have no trouble carting then around. If you have multiple to can connect them. I only have one and haven't tested that but some friends have multiple of an older model and do that for parties all the time. They do recommend you wire them together rather than using the wireless option, they said they get some lag between them otherwise and it sounds weird. It's possible that works better on the newer models, but be prepared to hard wire them just in case. It has controls so you can change most settings without getting into the app which is nice. You might need the app for initial setup, I don't remember for sure, but once it's setup you just Bluetooth in and don't need to open the app unless you want to. The Bluetooth distance is pretty decent. My boyfriend is always connecting to a speaker, then ADHDing his way somewhere else and disconnecting but he can be all the way at the front of my city lot in Chicago with the speaker at the back and it works most of the time, I would say it gets 50, maybe 75 feet relatively consistently. You can also just leave it on the speaker and plug it in to the charging port if you need power. All in all is a great product, highly recommend. One thing that might be nice is larger wheels. These are hard to roll on rough terrain or sand (think beach party) and over a threshold (I have to lift it up to get it through the door to the garage to avoid tipping it over) and larger wheels would really help with that. Some people make accessories and you can replace the wheels so maybe they're out there somewhere. I could probably also build a cart for it, it's a pretty minor issue all things considered.

We've had this for a little while now (1yr). This still works as well now as it did when it was first purchased. The charge does last for a long while, even with constant use. The lights give an extra flare which my daughter loves. The sound is great! It's easy to connect to Bluetooth, even for Apple products. We use this speaker both inside and outside. We would buy this again if needed. The rollers could be a little better because the speaker does tip to the side when moving, even on even floor so you can imagine when trying to move it outside. However, that doesn't change my mind about the value of the product. I would still purchase again.

I was a DJ and soundman for many many years in the 80's and 90's. I WISH I had a speaker this compact with this kind of sound back then. I own two of these, and usually set them up TWS in stereo. My wife is an elementary teacher and her school had a "trunk or treat". So I set up the rear our Expedition all dressed up like the face of a cat with the mouth and teeth being the opening. I put a party box at each corner of the SUV and used our "1200w solar generator" (1080wh cap.) power pack and plugged them in for full power. (JBL reduces output while on battery to extend batt life. I think it's a mistake, but whatever.) Running the power pack is super simple anyway. Set it down and plug in the boxes. LOL I did this specifically because my wife said they didn't get a DJ for the event soooo....These things lit up the entire parking lot like I had actually brought my DJ rig. In fact, it did every bit as good if not better than the DJ they had previously with an ElectroVoice tower and sub woofer combo set up. (The newer speaker set up with the sub and the thin tower that sticks up for highs and mids) While setting up, the entire parking lot thumped with MJ Thriller and everyone started dancing etc. They rocked the whole place no problem for the entire event. I was shocked. I knew they had guts, but didn't realize it was like that. The power meter on the power pack showed they were drawing about 500w on bass hits. The meter is not very responsive like that so that means these things were most like showing peaks of about 500w EACH. Totally believable as they are rated 250w RMS. It wouldn't surprise me if they couldn't peak out at 600-700w at times with enough input gain. My only complaint with these is the fact that they lower power output while on battery and that they don't talk to other generations of party boxes. I've also got 2 Partybox 100's I'd love to run with these as well. Oh actually there is one other MAJOR complaint. The "aux out" isn't a simple aux out. I had set them up in stereo and figured I would aux out one PB100 two each 310. Easy peasy. NOPE! The second you plug in the aux out port and try to daisy chain or whatever the speakers drop out of bluetooth and TWS and then you have to run everything mono and literally daisy chain one into the next into the next into the next. So you connect BT to one, then aux cable to speaker 2, then aux cable to speaker 3, speaker 4 etc. I've never seen anything like this in the pro audio world. It's STUPID. Give me an aux out that reflects what the speaker is playing and let me decide what I"m going to use it for. It would be SO MUCH easier to put 4 or 6 party boxes in stereo of two groups of 2 or 3 PB's like that. I don't have a 20 foot long aux cable to split into stereo like that and it's the wrong way to do it anyway. You lose to much signal trying to run a 20 foot aux cable. Again, it's STUPID and useless. If JBL could fix the app to get the models to talk to different generations etc and made the aux out act like an aux out they would be perfect.

It’s a good system loud we used for the 4 July. The base and everything else to come with it. Water resistant, battery life, it is what I was looking for. I know I’m going to enjoy it every time I play it.

JBL has always put out quality speakers and stereos. I had one in my car for years. This speaker set up is great it sounds fantastic with full rich sound and the bass isn't overwhelming while still having that needed drive. I didn't even know about these until I was at a store I will leave nameless, Big Box Store. They had the 310 marked on the shelf as 299.99 I was like no way so I looked it up on my phone and it was 549.00 a mismark on their part so I told her hey these are marked 299.99 when she said 549.00 she didn't believe me so she has security go look and WA LA sure enough it was 299.99. I got a heck of a deal. I just bought another one for the other side of my living room at 549.00 so at least I paid the full price for one of them. LOL I play my guitar through it but they fail to mention that you must have a pre amp or you can not play guitar through it. I have a vocal transformer a Roland VT4 and it sound's great through this system now I can have stereo. This is very well built and pretty much water proof if it's just sprinkles or if someone spills a drink on it although it would suck cleaning goo of your speaker from a sweet drink or a beer. I'm older 60's and the luggage handle is a great feature cause this has some heft to it Only it's not super sturdy so be careful making any sharp turns with it. They say 18 hours battery life but it's more like 14 but who cares?I took mine to a Halloween party with another friend who has the same one and we paired them and it sounded great across the back yard, almost as loud as a band. I know the entire neighborhood heard Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath for Halloween. LOL. Be careful with the control cover because the strip that holds it isn't very sturdy and could break easily. Also I leave mine plugged in and it doesn't hurt the battery and if you need to take it out you have about 14 hours of good tunes or Karaoke. Regular 1/4 Mic jacks are needed not the 3 prong type for the transmitter. It also takes a lot of different effects stomp boxes if you daisy chain them . Over all 5 stars for this one.

I was so happy to find out that the lights CAN be tuned off. Nobody mentioned in their review that the annoying flashing lights could be changed or even tuned completely off. The sound is good, clear and loud. I have the JBL Boombox 2 which is the largest “handheld”transportable speaker before you get to theses big party box speakers and the Boombox is actually pretty close by comparison to this party box, just about as loud and almost as much bass even. So if you want to more easily be able to carry your music around then consider that speaker before paying up for this beast. As mentioned in everyone else’s review, these party boxes do have an extendable handle and wheels to make it easier to transport, but it’s still a pretty big heavy speaker. There is an app to download to go beyond the buttons on top of the unit for being able to more fine tune the sound and it does make a difference. Seems kinda silly to me that you’d need to, but yep. I opted for this 310 rather than the 320 for a smaller price tag. Reviews told me that the 310 bass is better and it doesn’t have a changeable battery. Only a plug to charge the internal battery. The 320 from what I’ve read has a removable battery so you can have a charged spare with you if lugging the big speaker alone isn’t enough. I won’t need that option. I gave 4 stars because the box for its price, size and weight really isn’t that much louder than my hand held JBL Boombox2. I guess I dig it enough to keep it tho.

Only microphone has BASS and Treble control I wish there is a sound adjuster for musics too
