Is there a hand-sprayer or pump sprayer that you'd recommend?

Homedepot has a hand held made for chemicals , bleach etc, less than 10 $ and it lasts

can this product be used on wool area rugs?

Yes! It works fine on wool rugs

Is it just as effective on polyester fabric?

Yes it works on all types of fabrics but especially well on Upholstery, shoes belts coats, suede ,leather all fabrics,...the list goes on! #1 product out there for stain prevention.

Are you supposed to dilute this? And, if so, what is the dilution ratio?

Yes it needs to be diluted. I don't remember ratio, however, I treated 50 all cloth armchairs and had 1/3 of gallon left. It,s good stuff but do it outside and let air-out a day or so, strong smell. Hope this helps
