Got a possible answer for the "HOT" issue
initially when I used the Reader on my MacBook Air, it did get Warm, but never HOT. I was charging my Mac at the same time and realized that my charger USB-C was plugged in all the way. I Didn't plug in the Reader all the way in because there seemed to be too much resistance. Didn't want to force it. That's when I noticed there was Warmth coming from the unit. I later thought it really should be pushed All the way in so I did push a bit harder. It went in with a satisfying "Click". And I noticed the Reader was no longer "Warm". Soooo..... maybe these units are not being plugged in all the way? One other note: The picture of the Product with the Micro sd card is not correct. If your looking down at the Reader and see "UGREEN", then you will see the Contacts of the sd Card facing up. Not the sd Card Name.

Great small reader to keep with my car keys - reading dashcam microSD card video when needed.
I wanted something that would be small enough to carry with my car keys, but reliable for reading my dash camera card on my phone and this works so well I bought a second one for the spare keys.This will also be convenient for transferring files onto my 2019 MacBook Pro when needed. Definitely a good OTG device for my needs!

Needed this
Works great with my dashcam micro sd card. So much better having this adapter to view footage than viewing on my dashcam.

Compact way of getting the data
More devices are using the Micro SD cards (drone cameras, dashcams, etc.) so having a compact way of getting the data from one device to another is essential. This device works perfectly.

Looks great but fails quickly.
I've tried 4 different SD card reader brands and every single one of them (except for Apple) fails within the first few months. This one was no exception. I was excited for this one—felt solid, looked great, and was smaller than the Apple adaptor—but in under a month it was already dead.Note that it got pretty hot while in use, so I can't help but wonder if there was thermal impact to the circuitry which caused the malfunction.At any rate, I should probably give up trying to buy any of these products. I don't love the form factor of the Apple adaptor (or the price), but it's the only product that has never failed on me, even after years of use.
