150 mm (6”) White External Wall Vent Cover – Wind & Sound Reducing Baffle with Draft Exclusion for Extractor Fans & Heat Recovery

A design which is not out of place on the external wall. Under normal circumstances it should only take an hour to remove the old one and fit this new one but, having fixed it with one screw and then marked the hole positions for the other screws, the first screw snapped off when undoing it. I tried many options to remove it but to no avail so I had to drill another hole. The supplied screws are of a poor quality so they went in the recycle bin. Getting back to the cowling, it was fitted On a very windy day but there was no drought at all inside the bathroom. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a draught reduction through an extractor fan.

After trying many different vents and back draught shutters, getting annoyed hearing banging of flaps in the wind - this is the only one that’ll slow the wind enough to stop my extractor fan’s built in backdraught flaps to not bang in the wind constantly which was driving me mad. Little bit more expensive but worth it.

Unfortunately we had to return it as too large for where we need it.

So many things are just copies of what's gone before and when a company re-thinks a design from basics we end up with a leap forward. This is an example of that. It is so much better than the 'clattery' vents with flaps that are so annoying in high winds, and much more effective than the simple downward facing cowls. Also it looks so much nicer than any others. The design is clever and the face can be easily removed (for cleaning and installing) but is also very secure. The curvature of the face should ensure that it stays clean too. It is also designed to be used as a heat recovery vent with inlet & outlet ports if required. All in all an excellent (if slightly more expensive) choice. The plastic used is also pretty thick and tough, and feels high quality. Some reviewers have said that they found it difficult to remove the face for fitting, but follow the instructions supplied and it is pretty easy really. The key is to pull the bottom sides of the front down and away from the main part, to disengage the small spigots on the bottom edge. This is actually much easier once the unit is fitted to a wall. The supplied wall plugs and screws were actually useable too - I often throw them away and use better ones. Very pleased!

Easy to fit, good size, looks modern and very quiet with no draughts. As mentioned, getting cover off can be tricky but for initial removal before fitting it was easy to simply press down on the clips from the inside rather than pry them off from the outside. of course this cannot be done once fitted so subsequent removal will require finding another way but at least you won't break it before it is fitted.

Expensive for what it is. Side winds cause bad drafts so had to add in an extra part to diminish but overall it does work depending on prevalent direction of wind.

Got this to replace an existing external cover as when it was windy it would just echo throughout the house from how loud it was! This definitely fixed it and now it's nice and silent but do feel I can hear background noise through it than the previous vent? Maybe in my head but otherwise it's good price and ver easy to install

Cover blew off in high wind. Had to use silicone glue to keep them together. Would not recommend
