Is the remote for this ir or rf?  such that if i mount the roku out of sight will it still work.

Hi there, the 2020 Ultra comes with a Roku enhanced “point-anywhere” remote (or enhanced remote for short). Connected over a wireless network, it does not need to be pointed directly at your Roku® streaming player or Roku TV™ when you press buttons. This allows you to install your Roku device behind your wall-mounted TV or another nearby, out-of-sight location. Hope this helps!

Can you turn the wireless off so that it is not transmitting at all?  (as I prefer to use the ethernet (wired) method with less emfs.)

okay so here is the deal, if you wish to do this it can be done. however the moment you do it the only remotes you will be able to use will be ir capable. this means the remote that came with it will nolonger be point anywhere. if this is okay with you then you need to go Open Settings screen of the Roku device >Select System >Select Advance system settings >Select Device connect >Choose Disable Device Connect > once you do that the wifi on the Roku Ultra will be wired only. unfortunately you cannot turn off the wifi direct of the remote so if you wish for a remote that doesn't do that you can get Roku ir remotes pretty cheap right here on Amazon

Can I pair bluetooth headphones directly to the box or do I have to use that terrible app for private listening?

Hi there, Bluetooth® Streaming on the 2020 Ultra allows for users to cast their favorite music, podcasts, and more to their TV with a connected device, such as a phone or tablet. You'll still use the Roku mobile app to enable private listening on your own wireless headphones. Simply open the app, plug in or pair your headphones to your phone or tablet, and enable private listening on the digital remote interface. Just look for the headphones icon and you're all set!

How do i know if i am watching something in dolby vision as compared to hdr from the previous roku ultra?

Forrest:  Netflix offering a program in Dolby Vision does not mean the device is outputting it as such.  You would need confirmation from your display.  There have been a number of reports of this Roku actually not outputting DolbyVision ... or even HDR on programs which have it available.  I can confirm such issues.  My tv confirms HDR and Dolby Vision if I use the smart tv's own apps but not if it comes from the Roku.
