Farmer X Alox Swiss Army Knife - 10 Function Pocket Tool, Silver

There's really not much that I can add that hasn't already been said many times. This knife is very well made and durable, and has the exact tools that I want without being too bulky. It's actually very comfortable in the pocket and very useful.

Beautiful. Solidly built. Blades are sharp. My favorite tool is the punch/ reamer. These are more stout than your standard swiss army knife. The texturing is incredibly comfortable in the hand.

I have a number of Swiss Army knives. I first started carrying them when I was in the military. In a division headquarters, you're much more likely to need scissors, a can opener, a screwdriver for your eyeglasses and a toothpick much more then you're likely to need a giant blade. The Alox Farmer X goes the Alox Pioneer one better by including a small saw blade. You won't want to try to build a log cabin using this little saw, but it can come in handy for a myriad of uses. The aluminum Alox scales adds rigidity to the knife that plastic scales cannot match. The knife is still compact enough to fit into any pocket; I love the North Face Skagway pants as they include a "knife pocket" inside the right pants pocket; all men's trousers should have a similar pocket. That's where my Swiss Army knife goes; it's deep enough that the knife won't fall out--unless you're doing somersaults--and not so deep that it's hard to fish out. If you want a Swiss Army knife capable of doing any job you'd reasonably expect to need a knife for, this is your knife. It doesn't have all the "bells & whistles" of some of the bigger Swiss Army knives, but it doesn't carry their weight or price tag, either. Come to think of it, in all of my years in the military, I never had a need for any of those extra "bells & whistles" in any event. This knife should be in every man's pocket and every woman's purse--highly recommended.

Just a perfect quality

i bought this knife to give as a gift to someone who works with horticulture. The selection was based on my experience with the Pioneer X model, which is identical except that the Pioneer X is 3 layer and has no saw. The Farmer X is four layer and includes the saw. The Pioneer X has been an excellent knife with sturdier blades than the familiar red Swiss knife models. The Pioneer X is about as heavy a pocket knife as I want to carry, and this one weighs a half ounce more. I have tried this Farmer X in my pocket, and I don't feel any significant difference between it and the Pioneer X. I am using a Keysmart Nano suspension clip for the Pioneer X, and am also giving a clip as part of gift Farmer X. I don't need or want a saw, but for those that do, this is a very good design. I bought the Pioneer X because I use scissors in a SAK (Swiss Army Knife) more than I use a blade. The scissors have valuable horticulture application too. Other general comments based on my experience with the Pioneer X is that it's very durable. The different awl design is more useful to me than the standard awl found on models like the Huntsman or Swiss Champ. I think Victorinox has really created a winner here for urban and suburban everyday carry. Here is how I carry pocket knives: 1) Pioneer X for urban, suburban, and general walking around in the woods and while fishing. 2) Swisschamp in the wilderness. 3) A small Classic in one of my tackle boxes. I used to use it for everyday carry, but wanted larger blade and scissors. 4) I tried Leatherman style tools, but never liked them. I'm in the blade camp, not the pliers camp.

This is an excellent pocket knife for man or woman. It is very well made and has a variety of tools and functions to assist in urban life or on the trail. I can’t see anyone being disappointed with this knife. It is as gorgeous as it is functional. It is very slightly larger than many other Swiss Army Knives and has tighter backsprings and a thicker knife blade and screwdriver. It is absolutely stout. I put a suspension clip on mine so it doesn’t fall to the bottom of the pocket. My usual edc is the Handyman model which has more tools on it, but I am a bit of an SAK collector so I had to have an Alox in my stable. If they ever were to make the Handyman with the aluminum Alox scales, that would be the perfect pocket knife, in my opinion. Don’t hesitate on this one, I give it a strong buy. If you are gifting it know there is a space for engraving if you desire. You won’t go wrong with this pocket knife.

I own over 50 Swiss Army Knives. This one finally checks all the boxes in terms of what I personally find useful. 93 mm makes the tools bigger and beefier and the Alox scales make the entire tool way stronger. If the traditional Red plastic scaled Swiss Army Knife looks and feels too much like a toy, then choose an Alox model. These things are built like tanks and you'll understand what I mean the moment you pick it up. The tool selection is perfect in my opinion because it gives you everything you'd need working in the outdoors. Big Blade, Saw, Large pair of Scissors, Can and Bottle openers, Screw Drivers that fit both Flat and Phillips screws. Lastly the Awl. This thing is awesome. Puts holes in plastic, wood, aluminum, you name it. So you have a tool for every type of cutting. Blade for general cutting tasks. Saw for cross cutting. Scissors for more detailed cutting. The Awl is good for creating lanyard or lashing holes or whatever you might need at the time. And the Bottle Opener makes a awesome light use prying tool. The best part is there's not a tool here that's essentially useless. Like the corkscrew or hook on other models. Carry a 58mm Classic or Rambler model in the pocket and have the Farmer X as a belt pouch Knife. Recommended!

The Victorinox Farmer X Alox is a compact knife and a great value and has number features that will take care of a variety of tasks. The blade is sharp and able to satisfy different daily needs.

A beautifully made little multi tool. Alox scales, four layer. Tools are : One thicker than usual main blade, saw, scissors, bottle opener prybar/screwdriver, can opener/philips head screwdriver, awl. Should give a lifetime of use. I carry mmine everywhere.
