Spoiler-Free Review
Old Boy, Volume 7 starts out with Goto on the beach, trying to remember what caused the rift between him and Kakinuma, what was so bad for Goto to do that Kakinuma spent ¥300,000,000 to lock Goto up for 10 years, and what was so bad that Kakinuma continues to torment Goto with the "game." Officially, the game is over, and they're in the sudden death round, but one of the people playing in the game has offered to switch to the other side, but can this person be trusted? And who can Goto trust to begin with?I didn't love Volume 6, giving it ***3/4, but Volume 7 is a lot better. The pacing has picked up, and even though I've read a couple of tankōbon volumes today, I'm tempted to read Volume 8 and see how the story ends. I thought the scenery portion of the artwork, although not a dominating part of the story, was better in this volume as well. Not only were there the trademark views of Tokyo, but also of a beach and of a farm. ****3/4
