Can I download apps to this and can I text?

You could download/use Google voice and call/text via wifi. No mobile data plan needed, but it should work with that, too.

T-Mobile said not comparible

That's incorrect. If you go to the TMobile IMEI checker it will come up as a Inrico network radio. I am using t mobile on my with no issues

It uses any regular SIM data card.

Just got one of these radios - is it normal for the entire case to vibrate when voices are coming thru the speaker? Even at low to moderate volumes..
