Effective, well-designed product to improve Chemex experience
The Chemex makes great coffee but does not keep it hot for more than 10-15 minutes—as other reviewers have noted, this is a matter of thermodynamics and a combination of a large open top and being non-insulated glass. What this product does is stop up the large open top in a neat, aesthetically pleasing manner and prevents heat loss through that avenue. In my experience, this roughly doubles the amount of time the coffee stays warm. It does not fix the heat loss through the glass and isn't a substitute for a truly insulated carafe for longer use, but it does what it claims to do well, and is an inexpensive addition to improve your Chemex experience. This stopper has three tremendous advantages: 1) it fits into the narrowest section of the neck, thus making it more efficient at insulating than a lid placed at the top would; 2) it allows pouring coffee without removing it; 3) it aesthetically looks good especially if your Chemex has the wooden grip panels around the neck. For the cost of this simple gadget, it is a great product and I'd recommend it.

This should come WITH the chemex pot.
Let me begin by saying the difference here, for me, between four and five stars is purely emotional. I have no practical reason against giving it five stars -- it is exactly what it claims to be. But some sliver of me is not as overjoyed as I could be. Could this lid be a little thicker and sturdier perhaps? Maybe. Maybe it's that this lid is just so simple, so common sense, so... *obvious* it seems like a no-brainer and ought to have been devised alongside the pot it was created to fit. This lid is made of silicon (or is it silicone?) -- a sturdy yet very flexible rubber. It fits the chemex pot snugly, though it does not fit into the pouring groove. If you are thinking that it will seal the pot completely -- it does not. But it does make for easier pouring, though (maybe I'm the only one who can't manage a steady pouring stream in the morning). It may also prolong keeping the coffee warm longer -- though I can't imagine it would be for that much longer.

It Works
This cover fits nicely in my 6 Cup Chemex. I can pour out coffee without it falling out. I use it with a tea cozy muff to keep the coffee warm. It's difficult to keep the Chemex decanter warm. If I have leftover coffee , I put it in a thermal cup and refrigerate. I also tried a similar cover offered by another brand. It fell out when I tipped the pot a little. This one will fall out too if you tip it too far over, but if you have to do that just put your finger lightly on the cap. Not as much as a problem in this model, like it was for the other one.

Works keeping heat in and a pesky fly out.
Does its job, but you have make sure it’s tight or it will plop in your cup of coffee.

A great item.
Simple! Works perfectly. I totally get the Pyrex thing that you can buy from Chemex but am a bit surprised why they also don’t make one of these. A simple silicone stopper.

No more lukewarm coffee.
We were looking for something to help keep our coffee hot when using our pour over. When we use it with our Asobu Insulated Pour Over Double Wall Vacuum Carafe it keeps our coffee piping hot for a long period of time. It's simple and sits in place without any issues. Unlike the cork lid we tried, which was to clunky and large, this fits our carafe perfectly.Highly recommend it.

Flimsy
Looked at so many and thought I picked the one for me..... it's flimsy, before long I'm sure I'll have to buy another more expensive one with foam and a backing..... should've first round

Disappointed
Unfortunately I find thistle ineffective in retaining heat due to the big pouring gap.
