The Hillman Group 123130 16 Gauge Galvanized Steel Wire, 25-Feet, 1-Pack, Silver

I ordered this because last week I needed wire and didn’t have it. It’s 25 ft long and 55lb test. Easy to work with and strong. I think it’s was a good value for the money. I will use it on the gate to my pasture soon. I recommend this wire. You will always need wire, you will never need 50lb of wire.

I felt like this was a very good deal overall. What I appreciated most was that the size, specifically the thickness of this galvanized steel. It was well within the thickness parameters of 16 gauge wire when measuring it with my calipers. However, the 16 gauge copper wire shown under the galvanized wire in the photo was just very barely in the parameters for 16 gauge thickness for wire which made it appear cheap and not as strong in any way compared to the strength of this 16 gauge galvanized steel wire.

Our Tommy Bahama beach umbrella self-destructed in the wind -- the wire holding all the ribs was clearly rusted through even though the umbrella never saw a drop of rain. I read 16 gauge galvanized was the way to go. This wire is high quality, easy to work with. Made a good repair.

Product as described

I keep a roll of this 16‑gauge galvanized steel wire on hand at all times because it’s useful for so many small projects around the house. Most recently, I used it to make my own squirrel baffle for a couple of my outdoor bird feeders. The result is highly functional—though admittedly more baffling to the eye than to the squirrels—but the wire handled the job well. I also use this wire for hanging pictures and for shaping small O‑rings to hang tools. I cut it with a snipping tool, but I like that it’s still pliable enough to shape by hand and easy to twist or untwist when I need to adjust something. It has just enough give to be workable without sacrificing the strength needed to support weight. For general household fixes and improvised solutions, it’s a reliable item to keep on hand.
