SONAX The Beast Wheel Cleaner, Color-Changing Non-Acid Formula, 1 Liter

I’m in awe at how well this stuff works. Hadn’t washed my 4Runner rims all summer and did some heavy off roading so there was lots of brake dust, dirt, and grime on them. Followed the directions and the wheels came out looking brand new. It does smell a bit funky but that’s how you know it’s a good product. Cleaners that smell like something you want to eat aren’t focusing on the right qualities. I am now a die hard Sonax fan after seeing the results of this wheel cleaner and their alcantara upholstery cleaner. Just amazing results from all their products. Highly recommend.

My tires needed a lot of attention. I sprayed on the wheel cleaner allowed it to work on the grime that had built up and used a tire scrubber to clean the brake residue and other dirt that had built up for months. I did this a couple of times and my tires looked great. I recommend this product with the understanding that you have to use a little elbow grease if you want really clean tires and rims. I now clean my tires more frequently to avoid the dirt and grime build up.

For the past 6 years, I’ve been struggling to get the rims of my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk clean. I absolutely LOATHE cleaning them, because those huge Brembos cause a ton of brake dust. I’ve tried rim cleaners from The Chemical Guys and The Car Guys and they never got the rims fully clean. I always would have to do a second round of cleaning (I’m also a bit lazy about cleaning the rims because I hate it so much) and even then, they wouldn’t be totally clean. But this Sonax cleanser is AMAZING. I’m so glad I decided to try it, even though it’s a bit pricey. First of all, it sprays on easier than the others that I’ve tried. It’s not as thick, and the spray bottle sprays a wider spray, so it covers the rim better. After spraying it on, I take a detail brush and go into all the bends of the rim, all over the calipers, let the product sit for 5 minutes, and rinse it off. The rims come out almost perfect with just some minor touching up if they’re really dirty. And the best part is, they come out shiny, not dull, like with the other rim cleaners that I’ve tried. The SONAX Beast Wheel Cleaner does a good job of removing brake dust and grime from my rims. The color-changing formula is a nice feature, as it lets you see the cleaner at work, turning purple as it breaks down dirt and grease. While it’s effective on moderately dirty wheels, I found that for heavily caked-on brake dust, it required a bit of extra scrubbing or a second application. It does leave the wheels shiny, but I expected a little more "beast" in terms of power for tough jobs. Overall, it’s a solid product for routine cleaning, but if you have really dirty wheels, you might need to put in a bit more effort. Still, a good option for general wheel maintenance.

OMG, I was skeptical whether this was work or not. My rims were really bad, caked in break dust, I tried using nail polish removal but that would take some time and a lot of scrubbing. I sprayed this on and used the red brush, in 95 degree weather, not recommended, then when I got back around the car, it dried so I sprayed a second coat and scrubbed faster then rinsed with a high power rinse (it wasn’t that high powered) and BAM. Everything came off. Here’s a picture. I forgot to take a picture of it before but trust me, I was really bad.

I do all our own car washes and have tried many wheel cleaners over the years. I found this one a few years ago recommended off a gearhead message board and have been using it ever since. It's expensive, and it goes quick, but it's beyond worth it. I am never ceased to be amazed how great the wheels look after washing the car. I do use a brush to scrub the wheel, but it's an effortless scrubbing. Then hit them with some ammonia-free window cleaner at the end. Looks brand new after every wash, no matter how bad they were before.

I tried all the wheel cleaners at the yard parts store and none made a dent in the caked on brake dust. I ordered the Sonax Beast wheel cleaners at as a last resort. It worked great. It took a little scrubbing with a stiff brush and a second application in a few spots. The only issue was that the instructions on the label are in German.
