Absolutely perfect book!
I actually cried reading this...in despair for the complete lack of knowledge of teachers in my granddaughter's school and for what she has been through with teachers completely not understanding her needs. Needless to say I have ordered an extra copy to hand into school.Every child deserves the right to an education that doesn't pigeon hole them into what educators deem the right levels should be.We should be celebrating all of our beautiful children's successes, whatever they might be. Thank you to the authors of such a simply perfect and dyslexia friendly book. A winner in my opinion.

A fantastic resource for anyone wanting to learn more about Dyslexia.
What I Need, is an illustrated, positive dyslexia book, for teachers, professionals, families and our amazing dyslexic children. If I had to summarise this book with one word, my word would be “YES!”Yes! - Tiffany has truly pioneered with this positive and motivational book!I only wish that as a parent of a dyslexic child, I had had access to this great resource years ago; because no doubt, this would have made a huge difference to my daughter and I, on the beginnings of our dyslexic journey. What I Need, beautifully illustrated by the very talented Leah Heming, is bright, captivating, and up beat throughout. It discusses not only the difficulties a child with dyslexia may experience, it shares important insights into how a teacher can help their dyslexic students reach their full potential.A poignant message for me, was the one shared about how dyslexic children often have to work harder than their peers, to complete the same amount of work; a fact that sadly many teachers and professionals do not fully appreciate.I particularly love how What I Need, concentrates on the strengths of a dyslexic child, and the opportunities that await them in adulthood with the right support and understanding. The book features inspirational and successful dyslexic adults, as well as dyslexic children who have found their superpower, with a very important message:“They may have to work hard in school....but they have found the things they are super at” - because dyslexia need not define or limit our children.Being a child with dyslexia can be difficult, there is still so little understanding around it’s complexities and a child’s needs. It can be lonely and disheartening when your achievements do not match those of your peers, because you are not adequately supported or understood, yet you are more than capable with the right strategies!Thankfully, What I Need has arrived, and aims to change that; A book that can be shared in schools and homes, and will influence so many individuals outlooks and perceptions about Dyslexia.Written by Nichola Parody, Mum to Heidi, ADHD and Dyslexic superhero, advocate and speaker.

Fantastic tool for parents and children to get help at school.
I truly wish I had this book at the beginning of my son’s dyslexia journey.Using the latest research, easy-to-understand language and wonderful illustrations, this book takes the endless hours and countless money most parents spend trying to learn about dyslexia and puts in one easy-to-follow book that they can share with family and teachers. It offers advocacy tools and inspiration for young children and their parents while they are finding their voices and it dispels many of the myths that prevent early and meaningful intervention from taking place. If you have literacy concerns about your child and would like to find a way to get more help at school, even if school policies have prevented your child from getting a dyslexia diagnosis, I highly recommend this book.Always follow your intuition and never stop advocating for your child. You are NOT ALONE in this!-Jodi SnowdonMum, teacher, and very proud person with dyslexia
