How quickly does this harden?

As long as you keep the containers covered when not in use, the play-doh brand product stays fresh for a long time. I have some leftover from last October that is still fresh though the grandkids only use it occasionally. I used it all the time as a preschool teacher. It was opened and out every day for 1-2 hours and used by multiple students. I’d say they lasted for a good 2-3 months before I felt it needed to be replaced. Some other brands I’ve tried dry out very quickly.

How big is each container (would they fit into 3” Easter eggs?)

Will these fit inside plastic Easter eggs?

They are probably too large to fit into an egg if it is kept in its container, unless you have a huge golden egg. I put stickers representing the holiday such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas that I am going to give to a young child. It is hard to find items for toddlers under 4 that are appropriate for them. This works great and they love this! You might consider getting the small squishy toys to put inside of eggs for older children. They really like that too.
