Has anyone used it before for imported cars? If so, does it work?

Yes, it works great on my 2006 Scion XA and 2017 Camry, after changing battery all radio stations and timing on the car all never changed. Works great.

How do you recharge the 12 volt, 45 amp/hour sealed lead acid battery inside the ms 4000? i didn't see an a/c adapter for charging.

Per the Instructions that come with the MS4000; It has a Smart aka automatic/float charger inside the Case. This mean's that you can plug the unit into an Electrical Outlet, The Charger will charge the MS4000 Batry and when the Batry inside the MS4000 Case get's fully charged then the Charger will Automatically Stop Chargeing, and will monitor the Batry's State of Charge and will start chargeing again If or When the Batry's State of charge drop's below a certain Level. IMO this is a Professional Grade memory Saver and a Tool that every owner needs that doe's their Own Preventative Maintenance, cause there are other time's that the Battery needs to be disconnected (Not Just for Replaceing Battery) when doing other repair's or Service. Don't take unnesasary chances and have a High Charge for Computer Module damage.

Is there clamps for the battery cables. Older models had cable clamps

There are no clamps, it plugs into the diagnostic port in the cab of the vehicle. And has a standard out let plug for charging the unit.
