The Ultimate Tool for Podcasting!
The Zoom P4 PodTrak is an absolute game-changer for podcasters! As someone who creates content regularly, this compact podcasting mixer and interface has exceeded my expectations. The P4 is incredibly user-friendly, even for beginners. The layout is intuitive, and the buttons are clearly labeled, making it easy to jump right in. The four mic inputs with individual gain controls and phantom power make it perfect for multi-host or guest setups. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the built-in preamps are excellent for capturing professional-grade audio. One of the standout features is the ability to record directly to an SD card while simultaneously using it as an audio interface for live streaming or remote interviews. The mix-minus function eliminates echo during phone or Zoom calls, which is a lifesaver for virtual recordings. The compact size makes it highly portable, and the battery operation means you can record anywhere without being tied to a power outlet. It's sturdy and well-built, yet lightweight enough to take on the go.If you’re serious about podcasting, the Zoom P4 PodTrak is worth every penny. It simplifies the entire process while delivering top-notch results. Highly recommended!

Brilliant standalone podcast recorder!
I was on the lookout for an XLR interface for my Samson Q2U mic. After reading many reviews I decided that the Zoom Podtrack P4 was exactly what I needed. I can use it as an XLR USB interface to use my XLR mic on my PC but also record directly to the device while I'm away from home. The device is very easy to use, the controls are relatively intuitive and the sound quality is good. I can have dedicated channels for my mic and guests while the built-in effects like filters and limiter allow me to spend less time editing the sound in post.I'll be taking it to a show later this year to record a podcast on-the-move so hopefully it will continue to give me good results.

Best pod kit around
Really good quality sound and very functional. I’m impressed after using an H6 for a while. Much better solution. It’s a bit plasticky and mic could do with 1/4 inch jack slot but I’m being picky. Definitely recommend for basic pod production

Great litte 4 track recorder for bands
This is a great litte recorder.Doesn't do anything fancy, just grabs the clean audio to an SD card, which you can then transfer to your DAW later to edit/EQ/FX.It's meant for recording podcasts...But, I use it to record band rehearsals.Works fine.Condenser mic over the drums (using the on-board phantom power).Mic in front of the guitar amp.DI from the bass amp.Mono line from the PA for vocals.Gives us a great recording of 4 individual wav files, that after a little bit of treatment in the DAW laptop software, can be used as demos for reference or overdubs for live YouTube videos of us playing in the studio. It only gets 4 stars, because within a week, it stopped working on battery power. No idea why.Still works fine on 5v USB power though, using a standard USB-C phone charger to run it (not included).

Oh dear... There be problems.
UPDATE: It has now been (give or take a few hours) FOUR DAYS since I raised my issues with Zoom about my issues (detailed in my review) with the PodTrak P4 and I've not heard a peep from them. So much for 'customer care'.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Firstly, I have to say that the sound quality is just fine. Using decent microphones (I use a RODE NT1 and a RODE PodMic) I was able to to record with gain at 50% (which is a big positive especially with the gain hungry PodMic) and I got virtually zero noise. The headphone amps work fine too. As do the 4 mic inputs that can also be used for 2 XLR mics, one input via USB and another via the audio input - and it has mix-minus which is brilliant when recording Zoom calls etc.Oh, and the buttons are easy to understand and use. However, that's the positives out of the way.It can't be used as a multi-channel audio interface unfortunately - for recording into Adobe Audition or Audacity, so it's not a competitor to 4 or more track audio interfaces like the RodeCaster Pro for example. The output to the computer is only stereo. There are no details or options with the Limiter or Low Cut filter which is a shame because it would be nice to be able to modify the settings for different microphone inputs. But now the BIG issues. It is possible to connect the P4 to your computer and transfer the audio files without faffing about with the SD card but you have to go into the menu, down to 'File Transfer' and activate the File Transfer mode in order for the computer to 'see' the P4 as a data source.Once in File Transfer mode, it won't exit File Transfer mode... No matter what you do.Eject from my Mac and try to go back to the menu on the P4, nope.Disconnect the USB cable, still won't exit File Transfer mode.Disconnect the USB power. It still won't exit File Transfer mode.Try turning it off. Nope. It won't do that either. The only solution was to remove the batteries and wait a minute before putting them back in.And the other BIG failure is powering on the P4 on batteries. It won't.I power it via USB power bank and it fires up. I can then remove the USB power source and it will run on batteries until I turn it off. But then it won't fire back up on batteries. I have to connect the power bank again. It's a dreadful bit of kit.Good at what it does when it's running but big big issues. But I'm sure I could go through the faff of re-boxing it, packing it, driving to a drop off point, waiting a couple of days and getting another one...I don't think I would waste my time on another one quite frankly.
