Kindred Bravely Universal Labor and Delivery Gown for Birthing and Nursing

When I was recovering from delivery, as I lay in bed slowly starting to maybe feel sensation in my legs again, I knew I had to one day come back on Amazon and write this review. So after a few weeks of my baby being born and going down my list of orders, here it is: YA'LL NEED TO GET THIS GOWN NOW. It's seriously the best friend you never knew you needed in the delivery room with you. While my dear husband was sleeping away off to the side and I was in all kinds of pain, the velvety T-shirt softness of this gown kept me warm and comfortable on all sides. It was there for me right at the beginning when nurses needed to hook me to monitor my vitals and the baby's vitals, and it handled all the mess of labor and delivery, and then recovery. I didn't even bother to change out of this gown during my 2 1/2 day stay at the hospital; it is THAT good. I loved the easy access in the front to feed my baby or do skin-to-skin, and it was an ease to velcro it back after. On a less glorious note, it was also easy to keep the back partially opened since my chuck needed to be changed often due to the epidural/catheter shindig (just keeping it real, ya'll). I literally told my husband, "This 30-ish dollar velcro dress is WORTH IT!!!" I questioned the price tag before, but my goodness, unless you are making one yourself, BUY THIS. It's worth the comfort and hassle-free time when you're feeling your worst. There's my two cents, and I hope it's helpful!

Came earlier than expected, it looks exactly how it does online (the color, I got the lilac one) . I tried it on and I’m glad I went with the XL/XXL. I’m 5’6”, 213lbs, 34 weeks pregnant and I was going to get the one that was S/M/L but this one fits my big belly really well. It’s very comfortable. The top fits a little loose (big belly lol), however, I like that because I can easily do skin to skin once my baby gets here. I plan on wearing it during delivery. While I was browsing, I was wondering if the front had velcro strips for sure and if anyone else is confused it does lol. Front and back have velcro strips and the top that opens to breastfeed have plastic buttons. The fabric is soft and comfy and I can’t wait to actually use it during labor and delivery. I will be back to update, my review once I’ve used it to give further review on how it holds up during labor and delivery. As for now I am super satisfied with my purchase.

I bought this for our 6th baby. Previously, I had thought it was ridiculous to bring your own clothes for labor and delivery (bc it would get dirty, and the hopital already gives you what you need). But boy was I wrong! This gown improves your experience with labor and after by far!!! It’s cute, practical (pockets, openings in the front and back) and comfy. I recommend buying the dark gray bc if it gets dirty, no one can tell! After baby it gets better! After delivery it was very easy to open the front for skin to skin. The velcro closure even has another piece of velcro to fold over the scratchy side when it’s open!!! It made a huge difference in being able to breastfeed quickly, and do skin to skin often. The velcro openings in the front are much easier than the weird holes and snaps in the hospital gown. I bought 2, one for labor and one for after. I love them so much I will be living in them the next month for sure! I don’t like to spend money, so the thought of $80 for two was a lot but so well worth it!!! 💕♥️🥰

The only thing I don’t like is that the Velcro will not stay undone and it can get scratchy. It is very convenient for nursing though!

This was soft, lightweight, and pretty. I bought it for when I gave birth, but didn’t end up wearing it for that. I did wear it at home for the first 1-2 weeks postpartum and it was a life-saver.

I wore this gown directly after my delivery in Feb 2024 and this was absolutely amazing during my 4 day stay in the hospital especially after a csection. I had debated on whether to get a gown for the hospital as a bit pricey and I wasn't sure if it was necessary, but I am so glad I did and I loved it so much I immediately ordered a second one. The velcro and buttons in the front and back made the constant checking of my incision, pressing on my stomach, shots in my sides, and general ability to take on and off as well as breastfeed/pump sooooo much easier and more comfortable with this gown instead of the gross hospital one. Also I felt like I had more coverage as the gross hospital gowns are open in the back with just ties and this has the velcro that you can open in a second if needed. Would recommend a dark color gown to not show any stains - I had black. Very soft/comfortable laying in bed for long periods of time. I had no issue laying on the velcro. While a bit pricey, I 100% recommend, especially for a csection and longer stays in the hospital. I also wore as a night gown for some time after delivery. I am 5'3 and the standard one size fit great even with my belly and wasn't too long or short.

I will convince every pregnant woman I know to buy this gown for birth at a hospital. Best thing I brought with me in my hospital bag. I was induced at 41.5 weeks and in the hospital for 3.5 days. I wore this gown for 2.5 days of my stay. I wish I had bought and brought 2 with me so I could have put a fresh one on after birth, but luckily I didn’t get it dirty during labor (surprisingly!). It worked perfectly around the contraction and fetal heart monitor belts on my belly during the day and half before I gave birth, as well as opened perfectly around my epidural cord in the back. With so many cords coming off me it made it possible to still be covered up as much as possible and easy access. After giving birth I used the snaps at the top for nursing (which you do A LOT) and easily snaps back up when you’re done or if you want to cover back up when staff comes in the room. My nurses and doctors were even impressed with how easy it was to work around it with all the openings you can make. I was worried they wouldn’t let me wear it but had zero problems with it. After coming home I even used it again a couple times to sleep in because it’s easy to nurse in the middle of the night in. Especially during cluster feeding. If I get pregnant again in the future I will be buying another one so I can have access to 2 while in the hospital.

I had a premature birth so I hadn’t really tried this robe yet. It was washed and immediately moved to my hospital bag. Because I ended up going from triage to emergency surgery, it wasn’t even on my radar. Decided to try it as a recovery/pumping robe. The fit is actually pretty good for this brand (they often don’t fit true to plus size but this one did) and the material of the robe is soft, but the Velcro is obnoxious, scratchy and I hated it. So I’m already uncomfortable and worried the dang thing will just rip apart… then I try to use it to pump, and realize that one wrong move and the shoulders just pop open and the entire top of the robe falls off. This was definitely a waste of money for me. It just doesn’t seem to have a functional purpose if you don’t need it for surgery.

Fits great and fairly loose like the typical gown at my current size of 5'4 200lbs (usually wear an L/XL). Length is great and it opens easily in front/back and will be great for the hospital if they need access without making me feel exposed. Front sides on the chest button up as well so you can just open one side or the whole top. The snaps are a little finicky but I don't really mind them. Material is nice and lightweight without being see-through at all. Looking forward to wearing this at the hospital and likely after as well. Edit: I ended up not wearing this during labour and delivery as too much was going on and it was a mess but I wore it for the remaining 3 days I had to stay and it was soo nice to not have to wear their weird gowns the entire time. I felt very covered and comfortable and it worked great for skin to skin and just hanging out. Will definitely bring in my hospital bag again and may get another one when the time comes so I have one to labour and deliver in and one to wear after. I think the nurses would have been totally fine with me wearing this if I had chosen to do so, as anything they did would have worked fine in this gown.

Although I didn’t end up wearing this in the hospital, I wore it a lot at home after baby arrived. Great for breastfeeding and skin to skin contact (keeps baby warm). Material is soft and very comfortable.

Not sure if it was a previous return, but the product if dirty and full of white animal/cat hair The item itself seems fine.

This is a great birthing gown! Many openings that are useful and it has been practically designed for many scenarios during birth and postpartum. I have even been wearing it as a nightgown postpartum because it makes breastfeeding at night very easy. I either open the velcro down the front for full access and skin to skin, or just open the corners by the sleeves to give my baby access to one breast. Very comfy, flattering, nice coverage, and easy access points. Definitely recommend!
