Recieved package today (Dec. 4, 2012)
(Review says Dec. 1st because I'm just editing my review I made before I received my package.) Today I received my Elk Ridge ER-107! First and foremost I would like to clear up what the product description states. "Elk Ridge ER-107 Outdoor Folding Knife, 8-inch Overall" This is definitely A fixed blade knife as the picture shows which is what I was expecting. So that's a good thing. On a first appearance review, the knife is very nice looking; the handle looks very well made (although not sure if its plastic or actual wood.) The blade is as stated in the ONE other review (at this time)shaving sharp. Shaved the hair off my arm with very little effort. the full tang structure gives it an expensive look along with the sharp edge and fine handle. The sheath seems extreamly well made also, very durable feeling, seems like it could take a beating if need be. The snap closure ring is a little stiff but I just got it today... It is 8 inches, and although seeming small in my hand has a very nice feel and weight to it. Like I said before as a "first look review" I give this knife 5 stars and don't really expect that to move any with usage. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the "stainless china" very small on the blade. By this I mean, How long will its hold it shaving sharp edge? only time will tell. Then after time tells me that, I tell you how the steel sharpens. I will update my review in a month or so.Thanks,A Satisfied Customer

A great value
This is a very nice camp knife or utility knife. It is solid and has some weight to it, rugged. 440 type stainless blade, it doesn't state the grade, but for the price it is probably grade A, the lowest. I like the size. The scales are beautiful, and fit and finish is immaculate. Two shortcomings I see: I feel the rivets should be bigger, and the knife did not come sharpened. For a ten dollar knife though, I don't think you will find a better value anywhere. Even the case is fairly substantial for a nylon one.

Very nice quality
This knife s a little smaller than I expected but is very well made. The wood grain handle looks amazing and is polished to a nice luster. The fit of the handle to the knife is superb. The finish of the blade and bolster is equal to the finish of the handle. The entire knife is well done and is just darn pretty. The cutting edge is uniformly ground but not the hair shaving sharp mentioned by other reviewers. It did require some touch up sharpening. For someone with large hands the knife may feel uncomfortably small. It is just about right for my average size hands but I wouldn't want it any smaller. And though I like the lusterous finish of the wood handle, it could be considered a bit slippery. As for the sheath, in a price range dominated by knife sheaths that are best described as cheap last minute afterthoughts, Elk Ridge has created a nice sturdy well fitting sheath with an equally nice retaining strap and snap. Overall, a great little knife and a superb value.

Good Steel
This is a solid knife for the money. I was a little disappointed about the handle build tho. One of the scales is slightly loose and has a gap. I don't know how long it will last for this reason. A little better quality control could have prevented this being shipped. Granted the knife is not real expensive but I would have cheerfully payed twice as much for one built a little better.

Cannot be beat
Small size, good looks, good feel, full tang. For a great price. I paid $12 on Amazon. I just received it and therefore cannot judge steel quality or performance. The finish is excellent compared to Pakistan knifes I own. The only flaw I could find is the tang not being flush with the scales at the back of the grip which makes for two sharp edges in your hand. The sheath is of the better kind of nylon, pretty stiff and dense and hard to penetrate with the knife tip while inserting. My knife did not come very sharp so I did not see it splitting the sheath (or cutting paper) yet like others. I would like to see this beautiful knife in a genuine leather sheath instead of the ugly black "tactical gear". But I'm not complaining considered what I paid for. The best cheap knifes I own are Made in China.

Damaged handle
Just received the knife. I was disappointed that one of the burl wood scales has 2 small chunks missing out of it as well as a few deep scratches in it (hard to see in the picture). I wasn't expecting perfection, but this scale should have been discarded at the factory. The blade appears decent, but I'm not sure I'll keep this long enough to find out how good it is.

Pleasantly surprised & really liking it
Was looking for a fixed blade for EDC that could replace my pocket knife. Wanted a blade about the same length & overall length as my pocket knife when it was open. Found this one & decided to give it a try. The price was right & I really liked the way it looks. It came sharp, I ran it on my strop a few times & it was razor sharp. I use my knife several times per day for work & at home. I decided to go all in & not take my trusty folder with me to work to see how a fixed blade would really work for me. Well, I'm a convert for sure now! A small fixed blade like this is a great EDC for me. Now, more about this knife. The handle is beautiful, it fits my hand excellent. The jumping is perfect for me & the blade length & grind really works nice. I was a bit concerned about the 440 steel, but it is holding a very nice edge & it is very easy to keep sharp with a few strokes with a rod & a few swipes on the strop. And it throws great sparks off a ferrol rod. This is a very nice looking knife, comfortable to use & the sheath holds it very well & is comfortable when wearing it on my belt. For the price of this knife & its functionality you really cant go wrong with it if you are looking for a fixed blade of this size.
