Is it safe once I plant these that in a couple months we will be in winter? (I live in Oklahoma).

if you have a warm room with mild to strong sunlight, pot them indoors for the winter and plant them in the spring/april time, after one year the roots system should be more than sufficient to survive a winter as long as you compost around the roots prior to winter next year,(keeps them warm)

All willows seek water. The root can grow on average 60-100ft in diameter. The trunk on average can grow 30-45ft in width and a possibility of growing 40ft tall. Dwarf breeds do not grow as big, always be sure to plant away from pipes as they seek the water and oxygen destroying the pipes.
