I have purchased several of these for friends and family. Some jar lids are exceptionally hard to open so I thought this was my answer and it was until the other day and it wasn't. I have had mine for awhile but probably only have used it maybe 10-12 times and last use a plastic part that grabs onto the upper partof the jar broke off. Pretty shocked that from so little usage this happened but I just ordered another and am hoping that was just a weakness on that one in particular. I guess time will tell!!! But, all in all, it works great. First use of it is always a surprise I'm sure for everyone because of the sudden sound when the lid opens, so be prepared!!!!

This is mostly for entertainmentIt is a little rotech motor but if the lid is tight it will completely ruin itselfOurs opened 2-3 jars that we had in the fridge that were previously open but we put it on a sauerkraut jar and it tore itself apart - now I can’t return it because I’m past the Amazon window

My hands just don't work the way they used to and this electric opener is not only fun to use but opens those jars that I would not be able to open very easily.

I have one and was telling her about it. So I ordered one and gave it to her. This is one of a "must" for any one who needs help opening jars. One of the best products out there!!

Got this as a deal back in October as a Christmas gift for someone with arthritis. Return window closed in November so all I can do is review this jar opener. Opportunity to use it came up this evening so it was unpackaged and new batteries installed . Put it over a jar, pressed the button and watched with anticipation as it tightened its grip. Then it started making a loud chirping sound which I thought was the grip slipping on the lid but the sound appeared to be internal. Got out another jar which I could open easily but had the same results. I read the instructions which said to wipe everything clean and that also gave the same results. I do not recommend this product.EDIT: The seller replaced the opener that made the loud chipping sound. My attempt to open a similar jar with it failed but it had just been removed from the refrigerator and was wet. I’m waiting for an opportunity to try it on something that hasn’t been opened or refrigerated. Will update again.
