Calico, Award-Winning Cozy Tile-Laying Board Game, Make Quilts Attract Cats

Love this game. It is challenging and fun to play while being very cute and colorful. I bought it for a friends birthday and it is now one of her go to games to play.

As a teenage girl who loves puzzles, I absolutely love Calico! The game pieces are bright and colorful, the cat pictures are adorable, and the idea is very unique. If you like challenging your brain, I would definitely recommend-but if you don't, there are so many other ways to play. The age I would recommend is probably around 10 and up, but if it is to hard, you can simplify it by playing a different variant. Additionally, Calico is not only a multiplayer game, but can be played solo as well. It is not very competitive either because everyone is focused on their own board. The quality of the tiles and board is amazing, and the artwork is too. The instructions are easy to understand, and include a place to mark your achievements as well. The value you get from this game is definitely worth the price tag. The strategy that goes into playing is slightly difficult, but once again, you can simplify it. All together, Calico is a brilliant, well-designed, puzzle game that is fun and (though difficult) is worth your time.

This game is quick to learn. The art is well done. The game lasts maybe 30 minutes. It’s not Catan complex but it has multiple ways to score at the end so you have no idea how anyone else is doing.

Product did not came in shrink plastic but thankfully it looks okay when I got it. Art is lovely and cute especially the selections of cats! Perfect for someone who enjoys quilting and/or handicraft and cats. Perfect for a cozy night. The setup can take a while as there are a lot of components. Took me a good 30-45 minutes just to punch out all the tokens and put them to separate containers. Gameplay is okay but not worth the whole time setting up for all the tokens needed. Game ends faster than setting it up.

I enjoy playing a solo game of this. It’s great for a rainy day, a sunny day the deck, or a lazy Sunday. The board pieces are of high quality and weight. I highly recommend this game.

First of all, I'll say this: the game is very pretty and filling in your quilt is very satisfying. There is a fair amount of strategy here (essentially you are trying to make matching patterns and colors to get bonus points in the form of cats and buttons, respectively), but even younger players should not get overwhelmed. It's also a game that is not too demanding so you can chat and hang out and munch snacks while you play with no problems. A bit on the expensive side, perhaps, but the game comes with A LOT of pieces, so I understood when I opened the box why a simple game like this one is the price that it is. Get some little ziplock bags and sort the pieces before your games night starts.
