I am not sure if it is "normal" for a flag football helmet (which is what it was purchased for) but the straps that tighten it seem excessively long. The helmet also fits a bit large - even though we had spent the time to follow exact measurements. Aside from the long adjustment straps and the slightly larger fit than expected, it seems to function for its purpose.
