If you love Memphis music you MUST read this book.

I love Elvis and Stax and Sun and the others. However, this book covers many little known artists and places. I mean unless you’re a major music history buff, you will not know any of these people. With YouTube, I went and looked up some of the music of these people and there is a reason they’re not well known and not because of racism but because their contribution was so minor

There is some interesting musical history here. However it is eclipsed by sensationalized violence and decadence. I could not finish the book. Would return if possible.
