I got this for Xmas for my 11 year old who said he wants to be a doctor when he grows up. When he opened it, he was so excited, he was like, "I didn't even know I wanted this! I can't wait to use it!" He proceeded to forget about all his other presents for a moment to look inside the box. Inside, there is enough "skin" to practice suturing and messing around with the tools. The scalpel is not super sharp which is great because you can't cut yourself, but it cuts into the fake skin easily. For what I paid for this, I am really impressed with the quality, all the tools are well made and seem very realistic. I know that my kid will get a lot of use out of it, and I can imagine it would be great for an actual med student as well. The whole set is a lot of fun and he's already proud of the suturing he's done.

This is a great practice kit for learning basic suturing skills. The materials feel realistic and the silicone pad is durable and easy to work with. The kit includes several useful tools and different practice areas, which makes it perfect for beginners or students. Everything came well organized and the quality is good for the price. I highly recommend it for anyone practicing medical or surgical techniques.

Purchased this for my daughter as a gift. (8 year old) Great value. Quality was better then expected. Easy to use. Kept her busy for hours. Helps with hand eye coordination. (Requires precise movements and visual feedback) I would not recommend for all 8 year olds. Adult supervision required.

This kit gives you all you need to practice sutures. The only issues would be that the needle holder is of poor design in the tooth area, it is just textured metal not an insert. Works fine on the mono but, it tends to slide easily with the silk.(Get yourself an upgraded needle holder with tungsten inserts if you plan on using the silk sutures.) The next issue would be with the separate practice pad, the one with the cuts premade. It is good for practice and perhaps that is why it is as strong as it is but, I feel that the subcuticular layer is a bit stronger than real skin. Again, good for the beginner but, not realistic. Overall, it is a good kit to start with. One could always upgrade to a better pad and needle holder later.
