I've had four kids and this stuff, by far, is the only thing that has truly worked as if it had actual numbing medication in it. It does not, it's not medicated. But it has a very similar effect of numbing the pain but without numbing areas that would be unsafe to numb. I tested it on myself, so I can truly tell you that it works. It's not overpowering in taste or anything. It just works. My baby really likes it and enjoys it being applied.It works so well that I just bought five more boxes since she just cut her third tooth and has plenty more to come in.I really like the individual, break open, q-tip-like application method. It's great and there isn't anything left over in the tube. So you're not getting too little and you're not getting too much. My absolute favorite thing foe both my children. I discover these with my first born and how convenient they were to use and travel and easy to apply. Do not have to use a finger just a simple snap of the tube and a cotton swab for application to apply to the affected area.
