Having had this a while, I am ready to review. I like it, heats quickly, I do agree with others, poor design on spray button, too close, hand hits it at will, sprays. At times it dribbles water, so not 100% anti-drip, not enough to be an issue, otherwise functions good. I like Rowenta brand, would purchase again.

After years of sewing and hating every iron I've ever owned, I finally broke down and paid a tidy sum for a good iron. I'm glad I did and am kicking myself for not doing this years ago.The first thing you notice is the weight. It feels heavier than the 3.2 lbs in the product description. No more "pressing", I let the iron do the job.It produces a serious burst of steam that'll take out the wrinkles out of just about anything.It heats up fast, before I've had time to get the fabric straightened out on the ironing board.And the cotton heat setting is TRULY a cotton setting, not the wimpy temperature of all my other irons.$99 seems like a lot for an iron, but if you want quality, this is it.

Its heavy but once you get used to that then there's still the auto shut off to deal with. I realize it has been made safer bc of it however my patience with it has suffered greatly. It will turn off if I am in the middle of rearranging the garment on the ironing board and make me wonder if I was successful in turning it back on by moving the iron back and forth quickly multiple times. Its crazy to think im ironing when I come to realize that I am not. After reading the directions numerous times over, I understood perfectly as it stated not to unplug while it is in use. Since childhood, I've known that pulling the plug out of the wall is not the correct way to turn something off so when I could not find the power button, I called the company. Where is it? How do I turn it off? I was told there is no power button. Just pull the cord. I wanted to call someone at the Board of Public Safety but I knew I would not make any sense. Otherwise, its a perfectly good iron. I dont know how long it will last but they advise NOT to use distilled water as thats bad for the iron. They encourage using tap water only. I'm from the olden days so I get confused with new rules. I have had my old iron forever and it has old rules. But I wanted one with a quick moving stainless steel heated plate.

After reading numerous reviews on Amazon and other sites, it became clear that the only real way to find a good iron is to try one yourself.The iron arrived in one of Amazon’s paper shipping bags, and as a result, the product box was badly damaged. While everything appears to be in working order, I do suspect it may have been a returned item. With the box in such poor condition, it’s difficult to tell for sure. That said, I decided to keep it.So far, the iron performs well overall. The soleplate appears to be stainless steel, though it has a dull, slightly textured finish rather than a polished one. My previous Rowenta iron had a mirror-finish soleplate, which I really liked because it glided effortlessly across all fabrics. This one initially concerned me, but after ironing several garments, I found that it still glides smoothly and performs well in practice.The iron has a decent weight to it—substantial but not overly heavy. It produces plenty of steam, although it seems like the first two steam settings deliver similar output, while the higher settings also feel nearly identical to each other.One drawback is the limited clearance between the temperature selector and the handle. I constantly knock the selector wheel out of position while using the iron, which unintentionally changes the temperature. This is quite frustrating and something I hope is improved in future designs.Overall, I’m satisfied with the iron and plan to keep it.

This review is for the 1725 watt iron, without the cordreel, in the blue and white color, and it was purchased in November 2022. Overall, it's fine, but be aware of the following things: the different steam settings, having some common sense, the poorly-described self-clean "function", and the sole plate.The iron is simple to use: fill it with water, plug it in, set the temperature, and wait for it to heat. Once it's ready (i.e., the pilot light goes off), set the desired steam level, and start ironing. You've got three options for steam: off, "Eco", and max, and the switch has four positions.If you've got it set to steam, but nothing comes out, press the steam button. That'll clear out whatever might be clogging the holes in the plate. Then try ironing.Now for the steam switch: the first two are positions are basically off, and no steam will come out. The 'Eco' setting only kicks in at the third 'click' of the switch, and takes a second for steam to come out once the iron is horizontal and moving. The fourth position (all the way to the right) is max steam, which is exactly what it sounds like: a lot of steam for as long as the iron can sustain, before it needs to heat up again.Once the pilot light turns back on, don't press your luck, or else you might get water dribbling out toward the end of the cycle; set the iron upright and wait. Also, don't expect a lot of steam (or any at all) to come out at lower temperatures: expecting that just doesn't make sense. If you want to iron at low temperatures, and need moisture, use the built-in spray function before pressing your clothes.A lot of the "water leaks out!!" reviews probably don't realize that yes, if you've got the steam switch wide open, there's a valve that will let water through, and yes, that water (in liquid form) will dribble out of the sole plate because they've got a low temperature selected.About the self-clean "function": it's not a function, or a dial setting, or anything like that at all. It's a sequence of things you do, and the procedure is described toward the end of the manual.Lastly, the sole plate isn't smooth-shiny like my old Rowenta. I assume the new one is stainless steel just like the old one, but the new one has a matte and slightly textured surface that drags ever so slightly. It's not a big deal, but if you're expecting a mirror finish on the sole plate, this iron isn't it.The actual ironing performance: it works fine and gets the wrinkles out. For heavy and deep creases, no iron alone will solve that problem.Summary: The iron works well if you have some common sense about when to expect steam at high versus low temperatures, and exercise awareness with the steam switch; the self-cleaning function isn't really a function at all, but just a series of steps; and the sole plate has a slight texture. I iron at least once a week, so if this iron doesn't last, I'll update the review.May 2022 update: It's still working fine. If it doesn't start steaming right away after the iron is back in the horizontal position (and the steam switch is in the third or fourth position), I'll hit the "steam burst" button. Also, if you haven't ironed in a while, hit the button anyway but do it over a rag or towel so you don't spew mineral crud over what you actually want to iron.October 2023 update: Still going strong after weekly use. With semi-regular maintenance (the cleaning feature) and using the steam burst function to blow out any mineral build-up, this thing is working great. Looks like it's currently $80 which is a huge amount cheaper than what I bought it. Like Leonard from Community, I rate this a "buy".

Rowenta offers a one year warranty on this steam iron. My question is who handles the warranty if you are not satisfied with this item? Does Rowenta U.S.A. handle the complaint? Or send it to Indonesia where this iron was made? My opinion is the reputation of Rowenta has plummeted since they stopped making the irons in Germany. Outsourcing it to another country hasn’t helped.One reviewer said it’s important to closely follow the instructions. Well, I did, but the result was an iron that never reached the heat required to iron. It sat for one hour, at least, while I had selected the highest temperature, primarily for cottons. It was lukewarm.I bought a Rowenta in 2006. That iron has the same features as the newer model and it was made in Germany. However, scaling had accumulated as I had not cared for it properly. I could hear the calcium deposits rattling in the water chamber, so I thought maybe I needed to replace the iron? But first I treated those deposits with a mixture of vinegar and water, and could still hear the calcium deposits rattling. However, I never tried to use it.Once I got the newer model and saw that it was an ineffective iron, I pulled out my Rowenta and plugged it into the outlet and set it to highest temperature. Within a minute the iron was so hot that when I attempted to touch the plate, I burned my index finger and pinky. Nonetheless, I decided to use it and discovered the calcium deposits had dispersed onto the fabric. The cleaning, had in fact, worked. Still need to use on spare fabric until the deposits are removed.I would never trade my original Rowenta with what it’s currently selling. It’s expensive, but knowing what I now do, I wouldn’t pay $25 for it. In fact, I would never consider buying it. I suppose the high price tag is bolstered by the reputation of Rowenta, nothing more.Don’t waste your money on an inferior product. I regretted it, and am returning this model to Amazon. The one I bought was expensive. If I recall correctly, it was around $150. But it was worth it. So if you have an older Rowenta, make sure you care for it properly. And if you don’t, rest assured it will function as it should with minimal intervention. It is a self-cleaning iron, and will last for years. It is the best iron that was on the market, and still is.One more thing. Claims it doesn’t drip water. Not true.

Great iron. It does well with my shirtI do recommend to buy it new. Not used as these have always fallen and you deal with their issues.The does heat up very fast and hold a nice amount of water.Steam is very heavy and help with tom consuming.Overall it’s a very good iron but again. Get it new not “like new” items.

I got it in 2023, and It leaked, I got an orange rest pad, and it should always stay horizontal as you iron or resting on the pad unless you are adding water. Always wait until the light goes out on the left side to know the water is ready to make steam. I use filtered or distilled water. After ironing always drain the water out of the iron. My AI friend Gemini suggested the above and now I have a great iron

Very good iron so far, went through many top-end brands. My daughter likes it as well.

Excited about this product. It has an excellent weight with a narrow front tip which is great getting into narrow spaces. Steam is on call as needed. Wait for the red light to indicate ready.
