It arrived today,I need to isolate the car battery in this icy weather but I cannot find how to fit it to the Battery termin help if you can please

You will need to lug the cable and place inline of the positive side of the circuit. It won't fit directly to a battery unit.

Will the car or device be damaged if someone attempts to start the car with the cutoff switch engaged?

The ignition creates a circuit to start the vehicle, this will break that circuit. Simple in an older vehicle but in a modern vehicle with anti theft devices and fancy electrics it could do anything

Can I use this isolator for my 12 volt shed alarm in reverse logic? when i set the alarm at night i remove the red switch but power stays on.

Afraid it won’t work. The key is required to make the switch which it does via a pin in the side. When you remove the key the switch is therefore in the disconnected position. You could modify the key by splitting the shaft ? but suggest a key switch would be better. Old ignition switch ?
