These work great. You don’t need to use a lot of them. Holds water so your plants don’t dry out as quickly.

Everyone should use these..especially in window boxes that dry out quickly. Ive been using them for years but hard to find.

I have 4 pots of flowers that fit on my deck rails. I use these crystals to help with watering. You need to make sure, however, that when you do plant and use these crystals, that you don’t put the crystals near the top of the pot because they will just blow up and sit on top of the soil. So make sure you put these crystals towards the bottom of your pot. They blow up and water your plants naturally. Your soil won’t dry out as quickly and you won’t have to water as often.

been using these for my dubia colony for the past 6 years and they work well, they swell up pretty big too and rehydrate perfectly fine after drying out so i imagine for plants these would work fine as intended. my colony has had no issues on these so unless your plants or whatever you use them for are super sensitive to them somehow uh id say go for it. if you want these for your bugs id say give it a try, maybe do a small seperate group of insects as a test run first y'know

I purchased these water storing crystals to go into neck cozies for keeping cool in the summer. Basically, I took a 18"x9" scrap of fabric, sewed the ends leaving a pouch and then put these crystals inside and sewed it up. If you do this, bear in mind that 1/4 teaspoon expands about 7x's its size when wet, so don't overfill your pouch!After I filled my neck cozy (with about 1 1/4 tablespoons worth), I soaked them in ice water for about an hour. The crystals become balls of non-toxic gel. Virtually no water drips from this neck cooler and as the water evaporates from the water storing crystals, it just shrinks down in size and is ready to repeat the process. Not sure how many times this will work, but since this is the same product used in hot and cold compresses sold in stores that are reusable, I'd assume 'many times'.Another craft idea is to soak these in a combo of scented oil and water. You'll be left with scented beads, which as the water evaporates, give off whatever scent you added to the water. A DIY air freshener.Then there's the intended purpose, to retain water in the soil of your plants. It works great for that as well. I mixed in a teaspoon to a quart of soil for houseplants. Depending upon the climate where you live, you may end up watering once a month instead of once a week. It's great to leave on vacation and know you'll still have 'live' plants when you return.The package says keep out of reach of children and pets, however no mention of the product being toxic to them has been found in any literature I've read about this or similar products. Obviously the crystals do expand with moisture, so if ingested by anyone (human or animal) they would expand and could cause blockages in the digestive system which would be very harmful if not fatal.Fun to play with and extremely useful for many projects, do a search online for : "Polymer Water Crystals Have Many Uses Beyond Saving Water" to learn more about how you can use these for your craft projects.

The day after I buried these 3-4" deep in existing pots we had heavy rains. The pellets all swelled and came to the surface. Not useful.

Water storing crystals work well and are non toxic so can be used on veggie soil.

Haven't used the product yet, however, it is similar to a product I have purchase before, which worked very well in my hanging pots. I received the product one day earlier than they told me.
