Travel Select Amsterdam Softside Expandable Luggage with Rolling Wheels, Navy, 8-Piece Set (15/21/25/29) with Packing Cubes

My wife and I bought this luggage to take on our honey moon to Bora Bora. We wanted nice but disposable luggage with the expectation that the trip to the south pacific would beat it up. Well, it made it there, and back through international flights, island hopper planes held together with duct tape, and even thrown off the boat to the dock and drug through the sand and back. Then I started traveling for work, I ran over the big suit case in my work truck (forgot to put it in the back before backing up), toted it from motel to motel along the Oregon coast. It has made several trips to the midwest and back moving the family, and trips in between. Each bag has seen not less than 100 flights, 100 road trips, and 3 kids through it's life. The small carry on finally bit the dust on a trip to Dallas last year where a not so bright valet tried to load it by the extension handle and it finally broke off after thousands of extensions and retractions. The large bag, that got run over, just made another trip to Denver, the wheel wobbles a little but its still trucking. They are showing their 8 years of age, but still making it strong. It is worth noting that at the SAME time I purchased a name brand "S******TE" for my wife that has traveled much less and is in worse shape and we are down to only one of them VS all but the small of these. I'm writing this review as I am just preparing to order my second set of Travel Select. My only complaint is that it does not have the swivel wheels that make navigating the que lines at airports a bit easier. But for the cost and the amount of trips I'm all for it. Think about it this way.... I spent less than half on this luggage and it lasted as long and longer than something I spent twice as much on. IT HOLDS MY CLOTHES, I don't need some fancy name on the thing to sit under the plane or the back of my truck, to watch it get thrown on the tarmac or fall out of a boat.

Update: While on my first trip with this luggage the wheel to the largest suitcase broke, making it extremely hard to move. The other cases are fine and I’ve continued to use them over the years. I think the wheel broke possible from being too heavy, but it’s a super large piece of luggage so I’m surprised it was rated for up to 50lbs. That’s the max amount our bags could be to fly without having to pay more. I received these just days ago. They came in early. They are beautiful and exactly as described. The color is beautiful and the sizes are perfect for the airplane. Quality wise they seem very sturdy and an excellent buy for the money I spent.

Good value for all the pieces, but the not as sturdy as the ones replaced, which were purchased from Ross. Too bad the color only on the front of each piece.

For money wise it was a great buy quality good and they are very strong appearance was great and they fit very well.

My wife and I decided to purchase another set of luggage. My current suitcase (which I have owned for nearly 15 years) still looks like New but is carry-on size and we needed to pack much more for this trip. I found this set and it appeared to be unisex and a fair price. I was very happy to have received it. After it's 1st trip on an airline, it looked as if it went through a battle zone. The fabric was showing excess wear, and it was filthy. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd a thought it was 8-10 years old. I know the airlines aren't the easiest on luggage but I was shocked as to the condition after 1 trip. I literally had to get fabric cleaner and scrub the whole front. Went on our 2nd trip, again on the airlines, only to find the corners showing excessive wear upon reaching our destination on one of the bags. On our return home, the corners on that same bag had torn out at the zippers. We ended up throwing it in the garbage. I'm very unhappy with the quality of the product and the fact that one of the pieces had to be thrown away after only 2 trips. Bare in mind, they were not over packed in the least and they were well under weight. They are simply disposable junk. I didn't not expect a lifetime of use out of this set of luggage, but I did expect it to last longer that 2 trips. We rarely travel and I didn't see a need in spending a small fortune on something that would be seldom used and stored in the corner of a closet. I guess now that I was wrong!

Very nice set, lots of options when deciding which bags to bring along with us. We’re using the carry on and the small briefcase style carry on more frequently than the large checked bag, but have used the packing cubes inside whatever bags we have used for several different trips and have been very pleased with how they stand up to daily use. The largest checked bag held 2 1/2 weeks worth of clothing and shoes easily, and was not overweight at the ticket counter. The carry on is just right for a 3-4 day trip and is easily placed in overhead bin on Jet Blue, Delta and American Airlines flights so far. The small briefcase style slides right under seat in front of you, and I have started using that for 2 night trips when I want to get on and off a flight with no worries about needing overhead bin space. Packing cubes are perfect for cosmetics, socks and underwear, hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. I love a neatly packed suitcase and these make it easy. I ordered the orange set, since it’s always a sea of black bags on the luggage carousel, and they have survived having been checked several times with minimal scuffs. 2024 edit- the handle on the carry on bag has just ripped off mid trip- so appears 15 trips is the limit. This is the most frequently used bag of the set- all others are still holding up well.

I bought this expecting to need just one suitcase and ended up with five matching pieces — not a bad surprise at all. For the price, the value is fantastic. The set includes a range of sizes, so there’s a bag for just about every travel situation, including airline-friendly carry-on options. Whether you travel light or heavy, this set covers it. Durable enough for regular use, plenty of space, and surprisingly well-made for the cost. If you want one purchase that solves all your luggage needs, this is an easy yes.
