Pokemon TCG: Pokemon Battle Academy, Multicolor

The Pokémon TCG and I go way back. I started playing before Pokémon Gold and Silver were released for the Gameboy Color. Many of those who are my age have kids that are Pokémon fans, and what better way to bond with your child or young relative than over a game of cards? This is a real bargain. There are three 60 card decks in the box. Two of them are numbered for guided games with manuals so new players can understand the basics. They can later be shuffled and used for regular gameplay once everyone understands. Instead of coming with a flimsy paper mat like what is packaged in a standard deck box, it comes with a sturdy, folding board to play on. The coin also isn't standard. It's about two inches across. Cardboard damage counters and GX markers are included, but if you need burn or poison counters, this box does NOT have them. Long story short? This is a great way to introduce new players to the Pokémon TCG. I do not recommend this to collectors, because a deck you are meant to play with WILL have duplicates.

This game is fun and adorable. It comes with three 60 card decks - a Pikachu, a Charizard, and a Mewtwo. Each comes with a GX card: Raichu, Charizard, and Mewtwo. There is also a code for TCG online that gives you all 3 of the full decks in the online game. There are no burn or poison markers included, but there is a sturdy game board and a nice, larger than standard coin. Instructions walk you step-by-step through an example game if you’re not sure how to play.

This product is amazing for children and adults alike and this is totally worth the money. It includes three decks and 3 GX cards. It also teaches you how to play the Pokémon tcg. But here is the thing. I would only recommend for starters and old fans of Pokémon. This is not for collectors who are looking for rares, as it only comes with three common gx’s and not legendaries. I also included the list of the cards inside if you want to see. Amazing product, but not for collectors.

I have not opened it yet but can see that the back side of the box haw been damaged prior to me receiving my order. I'm sure the game will be fun to play as I have played a different version of the Battle Academy set but it seems like this seller did not maintain the product properly prior to shipping.

My 7 year-old daughter has been super curious about Pokémon, but we were having trouble just learning how to play. This is a very clear, well thought out introduction. It starts with each player having a (subtly) numbered deck of cards (1-60). The accompanying instruction booklet, specific to each player, takes both players step-by-step through set up, and through all the main features of gameplay. Once you get the hang of it, there are further instructions and a third more advanced deck to upgrade the experience. This was quite literally exactly what we had both imagined, and were looking for…but better!

It's a cool set of decks to pit against each other for some fun family time. I just got back into collecting Pokemon cards after 19 years. It's as fun as it was back then. There is also a very nostalgic smell to the cards that bring back memories I haven't remembered until I opened these and had a whiff. Lol.. It was worth every penny.

This product is AMAZING. We were afraid it was going to be really complicated and hard to learn but the guidebook walks you through it step by step and makes it so simple to follow and understand! Our 6 year old LOVES this game and it’s fun and easy for the whole family to play. Would recommend this every single time!

This is a great starter for kids looking to get into Pokemon cards. It comes with 3 pretty strong decks each including a GX card and a hard game board, which is better than the paper boards that come with other theme decks. My son got it for his 5th birthday and loved it.

Once you figure out how to play this is a great game for two people. My 8 year old was able to play this by himself and beat me 9/10 times after a couple of run throughs. Fantastic for the pokemon lover. Wish there was a guide to build your own decks or buy other expansions after a couple of dozen times playing the same pokemon it would be great to play new ones.

Great starting game for the learning how to use Pokemon cards. I used to have them when I was a kid, but never knew how to use them. I bought this on a friends recommendation. For me this ticks a lot of boxes. I should clarify this. I come from a board gaming background in general (I own between 60-70 board games, which get changed from time to time). It was the game point that interested me most. The game is a deck building game, but with a few difference. You build your deck before playing, and pit your deck against an opponents to see who's is better. That sounds basic, but there is a lot of strategy in how and when to use your cards, so every game is different. Now, having said about building a deck, I should disclaim here: This box has 3 decks ready built for you. This is really a game to learn the ropes, as well as giving you some starting decks to work with. As far as value goes, it is extremely good value! To build a deck nowadays can cost a lot, depending on the strength of the deck. To get 3 decks here for effectively £5 each is unbelievably good value (The 3 GX cards alone would be worth £2-3 each). I started with this, and have since bought other cards, which have adapted and grown the strength of the decks I have. All in all, its a good game. It is really a starter for getting into the Pokemon TCG, and to be honest, I couldn't really recommend a better place to start. Great product, great value!
