LOVE this soap
I'm a little nuts about soaps. I've been on a "trying" spree, buying a bar here and there when it looks interesting, just kinda looking for...something. I like soaps that smell great or that have some other quality that makes me say "wow." Well, this might be it. I was a little worried when I opened it and the scent wasn't all that strong. But then I used it, and I was amazed at the "grit" in this soap - it's the best exfoliating soap I've ever used. The little specks of black throughout the soap do such serious exfoliating that I have to use the soap very lightly on sensitive areas (backs of my hands, etc.) because it can actually be a little much. This is a GOOD THING! It allows me to exfoliate everywhere without needing an additional product to do so. I came out of the shower feeling scrubbed and clean. Oh, and after a few minutes the scent became more evident - I guess you have to lather up to get that scent to come out. It's still not as strong as I'd like, but hey, I'm not going to complain. This soap has too many other good points to it to bother about a little less scent. Yes, it's a bit pricey. But I'm going to buy it again when I run out, because this is a really unique product. I think it's going to be especially handy during the winter months, when I get lots of dry skin on my feet and need something a little stronger than the typical exfoliating stuff to keep them smooth. Definitely (obviously) recommended.

Strange scent, good exfoliation.
At first I did not like this soap at all. Like others have said the scent I pretty strange, like wet sand with a hint of like basil? But after letting the soap sit for a few weeks in my shower the weird scent faded and now what is left is a wonderful fresh scent of lime and salty minerals. The exfoliation is one of the best Iโve used in a bar of soap, itโs like a fine piece of sand paper. The lather is decent. Itโs not very soapy but more like a loose cream? If that makes sense. What ever it is, it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and clean. Wish this brand would release more scents in this line as this exfoliation is top notch!

Pull A Nancy Reagan and Just Say No
Here's the deal. I'm a hockey goalie and after wearing my gear, I literally stink. Using normal soap does clean away the sweat, but it doesn't do anything for my pores. This is the third exfoliating soap I've tried and it's the worst. It barely feels like there's anything exfoliating - the grit is either too fine (although you can see the charcoal on the shower floor) or the soap isn't strong enough to contain the grit. At best, it feels like a baby step from normal soap. Worst of all, the smell is terrible. It's like a combination of cedar and plastic. It's so bad that I will re-lather with another bar of different soap to wipe away the smell. It's sooooo bad. If you're looking for an exfoliating soap go with either Marlowe or Oars + Alps. Both were muuuuuuch better. UPDATE: I updated it to three stars. After using it for longer (to get rid of it) the soap finally becomes gritty when it's down to a little less than an inch thickness. Still smells bad (so I'd still avoid it), but at least it's actually exfoliating (now).

Great exfoliating bar - great scent
Use both Blast & Marlowe # 102.. Great exfoliating bar,Marlowe # 102 little stronger in grit but Blast by no means smooth. Great scent & perfect to use in shower just before shaving,go gentle on the face, will continue to use & buy. Like this one just slightly better than Marlowe # 102,but will continue to use & buy that one as well, alternate between the two.

Top quality aggressive exfoliant. Could be better, though.
There are exfoliants that work well with grans in the lather, and ones that only work when the bar is pressed against the skin. This is the latter. As such, it's a bit awkward to use in places that are tough to press the face of a big bar against, like the contours of the face, feet, hands, et cetera. Genuinely, I prefer the Marlowe exfoliant bars better. The Marlowe products are priced better, too. That said, this bar does exactly what it's supposed to do, without any marketing embellishment.

Finally! A truly rough textured soap for my feet!
I've been searching for this soap since my friend retired her boutique soap making hobby business post COVID. She had one particular bar that she made with coconut husks or something in it and it was SUPER rough textured. So rough that there was no way you could rub it against your skin without stripping off a few layers. I loved using this soap as a cleansing foot rasp in the shower. After she stopped making soap, I looked high and low on Amazon and elsewhere for an "exfoliating soap" or a "foot scrubbing bar soap". I tried many things, and while some were mildly gritty or grainy, they wouldn't actually grind down to the hypodermis like my good old foot bar. This lava soap finally makes the cut. It's really harsh and painful to use on regular skin, therefore, perfect for scouring off those pesky calluses from the heels and balls of my feet. 4 stars because it's pretty expensive, back to 5 stars for being peppermint scented, which is my favourite for any kind of foot related product!

Love this soap
I love this soap. I am definitely going to order it again. It is a little bit expensive but I think it is fairly worth it. Itโs got a nice grit to it to get the dirt out of your skin if youโve been working in the garden, or if you live where I do where the volcanic red soil stains everything. I also use it to help keep the little bumps off my knees and elbows. The scent is not overpowering, although I would have preferred a little bit more peppermint. ๐๐๐

Highly Addictive
Over the last few years, I have been a proponent of trying various natural soap bars, and have been quite impressed with the variety and scents, and have tried all the viral ones (Dr. Squatch) the sandalwoods, Monkey farts, black African soap, the Shea butter ones, etc etc ... Then one day I saw this, exfoliating cool lava soap from Bali. Thought I'd give it a try. It's larger than most, at 200 grams. I did enjoy it, and didn't think too much about it, other than the scent was totally mesmerizing. I found myself looking forward to having a shower, just so I could lather this soap up and just stand there and inhale the scent, and the lingering scent after. I would shower more often now. I was so impressed I purchased one each for my 2 roommates as a gift. But it didn't end there. At one point, the soap went out of stock and I couldn't resist paying double from another website -- it was worth it. I thought about writing this review but refrained, because I didn't want others to buy it and have it go out of stock again. But it seems Bali has come through and it's back in stock... let me tell you it's the scent that's invigorating (the exfoliating feature isn't bad), but the scent -- grows on you. People tell me "you smell amazing!" all the time. I found myself grabbing the bar and inhaling the scent every time I walked by. And now lately, I take the bar to bed with me (no joke), so I can inhale the scent throughout the night. No, I'm not a sociopath -- it just smells that good. I have all kinds of shampoos, body washes and soap bars in my shower stall but I don't touch them now. It's all about this Bali cool lava soap bar! The website says it's made with peppermint, lime and tropical camphor. Suffice it to say this is one amazing bar of soap.

Extreme Exfoliating
Not for me! ... It felt like grit 40 sandpaper on skin. Don't think essential oils were used. Smelled nothing like Peppermint or Lime or Camphor
