Perfect Gift for Elderly!
I purchased this for a Christmas gift for my Grandmother. She suffers from degenerative eye disease and finds it hard to see at times. She always sometimes gets confused on the day of week. So this works perfect for her. It displays the date, day of week, the time and it is large enough for her to see from across the room. Also, it's not too bright where it would be difficult to see in the daylight. Perfect for the elderly!

Great for older ones.
My mother is aging, and at 78 and not a complete orderly schedule, she sometimes has some trouble figuring out what day it is. She even used to call me occasionally, which is a little irritating. This clock is great, as it tells the days date, as well as day of the week. Its a little bright for a dark room, but, most comment that this is a cool looking clock, and since it's LED, it doesn't use up very much electricity. I'm probably going to buy one for myself..Con: It doesn't tell the year.. I have to put a paper on top that says the year... Yeah... It's about 8" tall.

Display failed in 4 months
Several elements of the display failed when item was 4 months old. Nice otherwise, but 50c per day of use is a little rich.

not what I expected - too big
this thing is gigantic. yes I read the dimensions before purchasing. I bought this for my 65 yr old inlaws...they're always complaining they don't have a clock in their big family room, and the 1 digital clock they have is small and they can't read it. But this thing, even in their big room, looks huge. And the problem is that the red is really red. and the pixels sometimes show, so during certain parts of the day, depending on how the sun hits it, you can't read the time clearly. and other times of the day, the red is just very, very BRIGHT. It was also hard to find somewhere for this big clock to fit. and it's so big it becomes almost too obvious in the room, which is not what they wanted. unfortunately we've had to return this.

No 24-Hour Capability,Otherwise Good Display
I need a 24-hour display; battery back-up would be nice. This unit has a good display, clear and can be seen 30 feet away. Display is quite sharp.

Great Clock
As many of the other reviewers have stated, I, too, bought this for my elderly, forgetful mother. She frequently forgets what day it is and if it is morning or evening. This clock is large and bold and my mom no longer needs to ask me what the day is or if it is morning or nighttime. I placed it right in front of her television, which is a great place for it since her TV is always on. It has a dimmer if one thinks the lights are too bright, but my mom likes it on the brighter setting. It was easy to set the clock since it came with directions. Just a few minor complaints, though. The dot for "am" and "pm" is small and I had to explain to my mom if the dot is towards the top it is "am" and if it's lower then it is "pm". That might not seem like a big deal to a person who is young and has all her faculties, but it can be hard for an elderly person to remember. I almost wish the clock would have the letters "am" and "pm" instead of the dot. Also, and I know this can't be helped, the LED "dots" can be easily seen when lighting up the day of the week, month, and date. My mom mentioned to me that when she looks at the bottom line of the clock (day, month, date) she can see a bunch of dots. I explained to her why but she still is distracted by that. All in all this was a great purchase and I would highly recommend for anyone who is forgetful or has trouble seeing or just wants a great clock! P.S. If the clock had a better display of the "am", "pm" I would have given it 5 stars.

Nice and easy! (to read)
I bought this clock for my 87 year old father. He was having trouble seeing his clock and keeping track of what day it is. He can now read this clock from across the room and can instantly be reminded of what day it is by the day/month/date display. Before he would forget what day it was and miss an appointment, now he reads the clock and checks his calendar for that day. Much easier for him!The clock was well packaged, actually maybe a bit to well packaged. It was hard to get the clock out of the packaging without destroying the packaging. (Hey - always keep the packaging intact in case it has to go back...) But other than that, it was easy to setup and get the date set correctly. I actually just had to set the year and the date/time set it self correctly. I thought I had to set the time manually, but I did not. This clock appears to be well made with no blemishes on the product. We have it sitting on a shelf, but it can be wall mounted.

Fantastic for Elderly!!!
I bought this for my 88 year old mother and she LOVES IT!!She is pretty "with it" in general but without having the work week to orient her to the day she was often unsure of what day of the week it was. She would have to call down to the front desk of the independent senior living center where she lives to find out the day. Now she can just glance at the clock on the wall and know. The clock can be mounted to the wall (which is what we have done) or set free standing on something. The numbers and letters are large so can easily be seen from a distance. We have this one on the wall in her living room.I also bought her a large number digital clock for her bedroom that does not have the date. Most elderly people wake up frequently in the night. Having a clock with large numbers across the room in an easy line of sight is a big help.
