Total RIp-Off.
Here’s a genuine sample line from this rip-off pamphlet of a book. “I don’t spend a lot of time in this here book telling you how to write your actual script”. In a book CALLED “How to Write a Screenplay that Doesn’t Suck” he doesn’t want to waste time telling his duped readers how to write!!! This rip-off took me about 15 minutes to read cover to cover and I learned NOTHING. This is a book written by a failed screenwriter who is ripping off other wannabe screenwriters. It’s like cannibalism. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Entertaining read, but won't teach you very much.
I actually was entertained by this "book". Finished reading it in about an hour. However, the book has almost nothing to do with how to write screenplays. It is more of an introduction and talks about how to start thinking about writing one and set yourself up. Also talks about the market and how to get people to read your script. But it doesn't say anything about formatting, etc. By the time I was finished, I had no idea how to write a screenplay.

Brief, packed with information, and very funny
I know nothing about writing scripts, but after a filmmaker friend of mine asked me to comment on subject matter of the script for documentary he is planning to make, I decided to seek some education. Scanning the internet, I came to the conclusion that as many "secrets" to successful movie scripts as there are movies.I bought this book almost at random but considering cost, and enjoyed it very much. It is brief, packed with (seemingly) useful information, and funny as hell. It is a good starting point for developing script writing skills without over-capitalizing. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Short, sweet, and to the point.
Incredibly practical advice. Chapter 5 in particular is killer. It doesn't teach you the ins and outs of story structure or explain the intricacies of character. Instead, it tells you the condensed but essential things you need to know if you want to do better than 99 percent of other screenwriters. It might not make you an expert, and it can't guarantee you success, but the advice in this book will probably get you closer to that point then any other other. And it's quite entertaining.Highly recommended.

CliffNotes for a Scriptwriter
Information like this is something you can only get about half-way into a scriptwriting class or through a good hundred pages of how-to books. At which point, you generally find that you could have saved money and time by just getting these facts right from the very beginning. This short and simple ebook accomplishes this by going right into telling you the honest reality of the scriptwriting industry without trying to fluff it up--which so many other books are guilty of.I'm generally the person who does enjoy details and long explanations in my scriptwriting education. The fact that this book doesn't follow that usual structure really shocked me at first to where I wondered what could this offer that I didn't know already. Then I was even more shocked that it gave me information I had never even heard of before. The ebook is roughly is around 70 kindle-pages, and sections itself into twelve basic steps. The book is written in the author's voice, who has a unique sense of humor and is unafraid of being blunt. He says things as they are--the tough business side that many books like to mellow out.One of the best features I found in this book is that the author provides links to extremely useful sites of information. His examples of movies are spot on as well.If you're expecting a full introduction or explanation to the mechanics of scriptwriting, this is not that book. While the title does claim how to write a screenplay, it is moreso a plan you need to follow. The only con of the book is that there were some points where the humor felt overused. But that may just be the style of voice.Instead of the books that have you following it word for word, this book simply tells you what you need to do. How or if you go about doing it, is entirely up to you. This is a great pocket companion to reference back to. As someone who has gone to script/film classes and read other screenplay how-to books, this is definitely a bargain to have in your library.

It's a quick, enjoyable read
I like the way the writer looks at things and then puts things. All too often, when I buy a book for a little shot in the arm nudge for my writing, I get terribly disappointed in the content. Not so with this book. It's light, quick, and helpful. That makes it a pretty good buy.

I enjoyed his down to earth approach to the business of selling a screenplay. It was easy to understand and had meaningful examples. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the movie business. It will serve as an inspirational lift during those dark times when nothing seems to be happening. Thanks, Michael Rogan.

This book did not suck
This was a great little guide to get a person to stop quivering and start writing. It had writing and marketing tips plus enough encouragement to just got for it. Why not?

This was a fun book to read as well as being really informative
This was a fun book to read as well as being really informative. It also took the fear out of starting to write a screenplay which I really appreciated. It maybe was a bit short on detail. I read it on Kindle and I think it might be worth while to have it in hardcopy to be able to go back and check things. I liked the attitude of this book I felt Michael Rogan would be someone I'd like to know.

Some useful tips
As Rogan states in the text, there are other books that offer a more complete view on all aspects of writing, but as a guide to go alongside those other texts and give you a kick up the arse to get you writing in the first place, this is definitely effective.

Love it
Thanks so much for this book series. It's both inspirational and practical, with a side order of hilarious. Good to know somebody out there believes in the struggling amateurs!

Direct, Cut, Print
I found this short and very to the point. No mincing words and no long speeches, it just gets to the point and then its over. It does have some valuable information for new screenwriters but does not go into details on how to specifically write a screenplay, just what will make a good one.
