Do a quick search on leather types, and you'll find that Full Grain leather is the be highest quality leather.There may be more to it than that, but these have proven to be very good straps for the money.I have purchase many leather straps for my basses the last few years - most of them more expensive, high quality straps to replace the cheaper straps I've tried.This strap is the exception. It works well on lighter-weight instruments, and while relatively inexpensive, it's a very good value. The photos represent the color pretty well, and the color compliments my tort pickguard ;). (Also note - the dimensions listed seem to be accurate)I just wished they still offered the black version.

The color is just what I hoped based on the photo, and this is REALLY high quality, THICK leather, and it isn't stiff, but pretty supple and flexible. It will last a lifetime. And the soft but grippy unfinished leather on the back side keeps it from sliding on your shoulder if you happen to have a neck-diving guitar. Stays put. NICE! Thanks Walker and Williams
