An Amazing Book with good, surprising Information
In a few pages, the author uncovers and outlines a culprit that kills and disables others in our North American Society-sugar!The book outlines the case in layman's language with scientific data to back the argument of the relationship between sugar and Cholesterol. Sugar, other than trans-fat, is the most substance that we ingest. Start reading food labels and the amount and where sugar resides will shock you!The book then unfolds into a cookbook, giving heart healthy recipes that are wonderful and not too difficult to create.I strongly suggest the reading of this work and adding it to your library of both personal health information and your cookbook shelf.I am following the suggestions. It is a liberation from some of the other concepts leading to longer life and heart health.

Great recipes, need more off them though
I loved the book this cookbook is based on. My only complaint with this book is that it spends a lot of time going over what is already covered in the The Great Cholesterol Myth book. So if you are buying this because of reading that book you will feel a little ripped off. If more of the pages would have been devoted to recipes and less to why you need to eat this way I would have gave it five stars. The recipes are great and tie in perfectly with the companion book. However if you haven't read The Great Cholesterol Myth book then this book will be a five star for you.

LOVED, LOVED LOVED IT! MY TOP TEN PICK!
Seriously loved this book! I am in the nutrition field & this will be in my top ten must reads! I read "The Great Cholesterol Myth" & loved it but this was even better. Concise & easy to understand. I learned a few new things too. I really loved The Best Fats for the Job, chart on oils! It will be an easy book to recommend to those I counsel on nutrition. I just received this today so I haven't tried the recipes but they sound wonderful!!! The ingredients were everyday things you can find in the grocery store. They also looked easy to prepare. The meal plans were an added value! MUST HAVE BOOK!

Good Cholesterol Information. Recipes Have Some Problems
The information about cholesterol is good, but it is found in other articles and books. This book focuses mostly on the recipes and is the primary reason why I purchased the book. The main complaint I have with the recipes is the difficulty finding the listed ingredients. The only way these recipes will work well with the general health conscious public, is if the ingredients are readily available from the large chain supermarkets. Sadly, this is not the case.I chose a few recipes at random and went to Wal-mart, Fresh Market, Harmons, Smiths, and Nature Moon Health stores. There were several ingredients that were hard to find and some that could not be found at all. Here is an example:- unsweetened shredded coconut. 1/5 stores had it. Most only had sweetened.- rye flakes 0/5 stores carried rye flakes. This was a specialty item that had to be ordered online (expensive)- pure maple extract (not syrup) 0/5 stores carried it. This was a specialty item that had to be ordered online (expensive)- barley malt power 0/5 stores carried it. We are not talking about the sweetened, malted milk mix, but barley malt flour. It was not specified in the recipe if this should be diastatic or non-diastatic. However neither one was locally available. This had to be ordered online (expensive).I just chose three random recipes. If the other 100 recipes are similar, it will be very difficult for the average person to shop for these ingredients. It's too bad that the authors didn't take into account convenience and expense. I think it is possible to put together recipes that use readily available ingredients.

Good Ideas and Great Advice
Contains a great prescription for supplements to improve heart health. For example, I've been taking a statin drug for a couple of years, but my doctor didn't tell me I needed to be taking CoQ10 along with it. The book explains why it is necessary and I've added it to my regimen. The arguments for fish oil and heart health were convincing, and I've added back a good quality fish oil as suggested. Will continue to make changes - not only with supplements but diet as well as I wend my way through the pages of this excellent book!

Be Careful!
This book has the exact same recipes as The Great Cholesterol Myth. So don’t buy it if you are looking for additional recipes. Just buy one or the other.
