The Messingschlager Ahead Adjustable Stem fits 1.1/8 inch and has a variable adjustment from 40-140 degrees. Review: Well built and sturdy with a few words about installing on carbon steerer tubes - I purchased this to replace the original stem on my Cannondale Quick 1, to get a more upright riding position. As others have stated, this stem is very very well made and I particularly liked the fact that the adjustment sat on the top of the tube instead of out front. The adjustment actually has teeth that mesh together when tightened, which make this much better than a friction based system. The way this feels when tightened, I cannot imagine this ever slipping. Now a cautionary word or two about installing this on a carbon fork steerer tube. This comes with a star compression nut assembly which is installed into the fork tube to tighten the main stem body to the tube. This is fine for alloy or steel fork tubes, but should not be used for carbon fork tubes. On carbon steerer fork tubes, an expansion / compression nut should be used. Since my fork is carbon, the original stem assembly on my bike did have an expansion nut, but I discovered this was too short to be used with this adjustable stem. I had to purchase a 50mm long expansion nut assembly separately to install this new stem on my bike. Below is the link to the one I found on desertcart, which cost around $10. I used this one without the black top cap and it worked perfectly. I feel the company selling this excellent product would benefit by having two styles available. One sold with the star compression nut for alloy and steel fork tubes and another sold with a compression nut for carbon fork tubes. It also would be nice if they included a picture of the internal parts in the listing. Other than this, I highly recommend this stem and would definitely buy it again should I need another one. https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B077JMWY8X/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Review: Works well on Trek 820 mountain bike. - I felt I had to lean too far forward on my new Trek 820 and wanted to sit more upright. I debated between this and replacing the handlebar with more rise and/or the stem. Looking at the photos and reading the reviews, this adjustable stem seemed to be sturdy and functional. If this alone didn't give me the height I was looking for I was going to replace the handle bar next. Luckily, two clicks forward from the vertical position gave me the perfect seating comfort. All the parts are of good quality, and I expect it to be trouble free for many years. I added some thread locker to some of the bolts just as a caution. I kept 3 spacers below this stem, and the steer tube doesn't quite clear the top clamp as much as I would like. Once installed, everything felt rock solid with no looseness or noises. Recommended.

Easy in install and adjust.
On of the best threadless adjustable stems. Most have the adjustment offset from the steerer tube which even fully adjusted can keep the bar low for comfort purposes. This moves the pivot to above the steerer tube much like a threaded version does, this means you get the full benefit of the pivot. There is also plenty of space above the pinch bolts to allow for plenty of height adjustment as well, just remember that the top of the steerer tube needs to sit level with the top of the upper pinch bolt. In the case of the install in the picture I included I did this which also moved the handlebars up, another 2 spacers could have been removed if I wanted the bar lower without moving it forward via the pivot. No top cap needed and the adjustment is just one 6mm wrench. Simple, easy and well thought out.

A beautifully made adjustable stem.
I love the concept of adjustable stems for one simple reason; everyone is built differently and has a different preferred riding position. There is almost nothing more uncomfortable than riding a bike that can't accommodate your particular riding position. This is a replacement stem for the original adjustable stem I had purchased for this bike a year ago. I could never get the original stem to tighten down. It got to point of being annoying and then, dangerous. This new stem is the real thing. It's beautifully made, solid and easily locks down and holds its position. It has a wide range of adjustments to accommodate almost anyone's preferred riding position. I'd give it six stars but they only allow me five.

Excellent engineering.....Quality product.
Donโt usually write reviews.....being an engineer I am really impressed with the design, construction and quality of this stem. They got the angles and dimensions just right and you can easily go from full comfort to aggressive riding. I should have purchased it years ago. The only negative is the weight but I can overlook that because of the solid not hollow construction. Donโt think you will be disappointed.

Simple to install
Easy to install. Adjustable hights is great have ,really does help the comfort of steering and riding the bike ease for me.

Easy to install and adjust
Seems to be well-made. There are "clicks" for each angle/degree of setting. The only drawback for me is that the handlebar clamp is 31.8mm, not the more common 25.4 or 25.6mm. So I need a fatter handlebar now.
