I spent several hours reviewing fondue pots. I've had an electric Cuisinart for several years but wanted something more authentic. It seemed to me that Swissmar had the best reviews overall. I purchased this as it appeared to be an all-in-one product.The product itself is elegant, although a little small (which I knew prior to purchase). I wouldn't recommend it for more than 2 people.The issue I had with it was that it arrived with one of the posts loose. Due to this, I looked over the unit with a little more care than I maybe would have otherwise. I discovered that it isn't really that good of quality - not for $100. It's lightly welded and looked like it could easily come loose in time - not something you really want to have happen when dealing with boiling water at the dinner table.I ended up returning it and purchased one from Williams Sonoma for $170. It is twice the size and hopefully engineered better. Only time will tell if I made the right choice.

I was pretty disappointed with the performance of this fondue set. It would not keep a solid boil for meat fondue. Would probably be fine for cheese or chocolate, although I think it would take too long for it to melt. The forks all had small dents in them as well. The set seems a little flimsy, but the ceramic was nice. Overall, an entry level quality for an advanced price. I do not recommend.

This fondue unit is a nice small unit for about 4-5 persons. It seems to be made well but there are some sharp edges, especially on the burner and the burner lid does not close easily and tightly. Also where some parts are put together the surface is not even. It will not impair its use, it is just not Swiss quality. I thought it was made in Switzerland, but of course it comes from China. For the price it could be made better. My old Swiss made fondue set I gave away to my daughter, was much better.I hope we will still have good luck and fun using it.
