Are these battery powered?

The description in add is incorrect it mentions battery-powered. No batteries are needed. This is a maintenance-free thermometer. Nothing to replace ever.

These seem to be a few degrees cooler than all my digital thermometers. Is there a certain way to use them? Does the cold metal make them inaccurate?

After extensive testing in my refrigerator, my 2 thermometers differ by 4 degrees. The cooler one closely matches another thermometer I have so I guess I will just trash the higher one.

What does "ok" freeze mean?

Instead of "O.K. Freeze" which is confusing, some dial thermometer makers just label it as "Freeze", for example, see Taylor Precision Products 5924,3-inch Dial Kitchen Refrigerator and Freezer Kitchen Thermometer.
