Verbatim 97016 DVD-R Optical Disc, White, 0.1

I have used a about 200 of these DVD's with only about a 2% failure rate. Previously I had ordered Sony printable DVD's because of their good ratings by reviewers and because of my own good experience with Sony products. With the Sony DVD's I had about a 25% failure rate. I do print labels on my DVD's, using an Epson Artisan 835 and Artisan 50 printers (both excellent machines, the 835 a little more convenient when printing several of the same DVD or CD) and I get excellent results. The Verbatim 97016 printable DVD's are excellent in all respects. Interestingly, the old 5.25 inch floppy disks sold under the Verbatim label in the late 70's and early 80's were also superior products. Regarding the high failure rate reported by one reviewer of non-spooled blank DVD's, my experience indicates that his problems may stem from the VERY poor packing CONSISTENTLY done by the people sending them out. I use quite a few CD's and DVD's of various types, and the padding of packages is always unbelievably bad. When ordering several types of disks in a single order I have had more than 1/3 of the disks rendered unusable. I suggest ordering one package per order. Since they have only the sides of the box to bang against they suffer less damage though the padding they used does little to impede the included package from bouncing around in the package. I suspect that the two DVD's that failed in the last package did so as the result of shipping damage despite it was in an order by itself. Since I wrote the above, I have started using these same DVD's that come on spindles, packed 50 to a spindle. I have used many hundreds of them and have had only one instance of damage to a shipment. They are still badly packaged, but the spindle packing protects them. Other than that one shipment, I have never received a defective DVD. I highly recommend the spindled versions. 7/20/14 Update. Because the 100 disk pack is less expensive, and since I am am an Amazon prime member, I have again started ordering the that size, one at a time. I found that if the disks were sent by themselves, they would usually arrive undamaged -- when two or more of them are together, they bang against each other consistently causing damage to those disks at the top and bottom of the pack. Much to my surprise, MY LAST ORDER ARRIVED WELL PACKED: The disk pack was wrapped all around in bubble wrap and the space in the box was totally filled with Blister wrap. I am so encouraged that on my next order, I am going to order two or three at a time.

I have been purchasing this brand for many years. I own a company called Hernandez Video Services that converts videotapes to DVD and these are the blanks that I use. I never had a playability issue complaint from a customer. Very reliable. I also convert audio, film, photos, and slides.

I am a video professional for 30 years and using burned DVD-R discs since they first came to the home and business industry… back when they were $15 a blank DVD-R disc! My staff and I have always trusted the Verbatim name. Since our customers pay for our services we need to provide them with a high quality media to last for years. (The Jury is still out… get back to us in theWe use these hub printable ink-jet AND thermal DVD-R type discs. These White Inkjet Hub Printable Virtually no failure with a high rate of successful burns. As we have tried the less expensive brands and even some major manufacture brands with far higher fail rate. And the price is fair. Even though physical media is fading popularity, we still need to provide DVD video discs. Plenty fast for our macs and towers. Works great!

The Verbatim Discs are probably the best (with a nod to the old Taiyo Yuden-now JVC) because of the AZO dye and hardware compatibility. Please be aware that although it's not logical, the speed you record at i.e. 16x, 8x etc. DOES affect playback compatibility on some generations of DVD players. If you are selling or distributing discs, be certain to record at 8x even though the discs automatically record at 16x in most burning software. I tested this and now manually double-check the recording speed each time I burn - even if I've saved the settings for the burn ( in Nero ). Since I do a lot of dupes, I'll probably just order the 8x discs for that purpose from now on. The "air pack" modules for the shrink pack are very inadequate and should be replaced with bubble-wrap on this item.

Well Verbatim you did not disappoint me in the least. I always enjoy verbatim disks because rarely have I had any trouble with them. In fact last time when I thought I was having serious problems with a batch I purchased I soon discovered it was not a defect in the media that was causing some of the headaches I had but rather just simply having a brain freeze on how to add folders to the CD/DVD via Roxio creator. Once I started adding folders and files I began to realize that the very thing that was causing problems was not the verbatim but rather in how I was using the software that allowed me to put all these folders or files from my computer onto the disk. Once I got that squared away why all these verbatim disks that I thought got ruined were indeed in great shaped I began to realize that I really never had a bad experience with Verbatim disks outside of human error. The same can not be said about Memorex and sony as I had experiences with these companies too and there were multiple disk problems but just as soon as I switched allegiance back to verbatim these problems went away. Great product keep it up Verbatim

Getting too many errors on burning

Been using this brand for years but first time buying from amazon... same great product at a lower price :)

just what i needed.

I have always loved using this product. With the ore-labelled discs it's one less step in the process. So far no discs have been wasted on burning errors. Labels are easy to write upon. More importantly the price was right, working out to less than 50 cents per disc.
