Thin and runny, but very tasty
Consistency is very runny (like soy sauce), not thick like I expected from a BBQ sauce; nevertheless, I really like it. Has to be used as a dipping sauce or marinade since it doesn't stick to the food.

Yummy
A friend recommended describing a rich umami flavor. Thinner than I anticipated, but it works great as a marinade. The sodium rating is 580 - i paired it with some oyster sauce and it was delicious.

Have you ever..?
The original Japanese bbq sauce has been just what I have been looking for. If you like regular bbq sauce yet find it too heavy and sweet, this Japanese version might be it. Little goes a long way. I have added it to eggs, potatoes and tofu with toasted sesame seeds for Asian-inspired tacos and this sauce has not disappointed. I am curious about the other flavors and will try them at some point.

Not really what I had expected
I think it tastes fine, but it’s not a sauce that I will ever eat again because the taste and texture were both unpleasant. It’s a runny liquid and is a lot more acidic than I’d like a bbq sauce. I think if you mix it with some water you can make a nice marinade, but if you’re expecting a thick smoky bbq good for dipping stuff, this is not it. I may try using it for cooking instead.

So GOOD!
I bought this due to the grill master I watch on Facebook. He used it often and I thought I would try it. My husband used it when grilling and boy the stir vegetables beef was delicious. We have used it on chicken as well. I’m going to be ordering more shortly. I wish it wasn’t so pricey. But we are enjoying adding this to our grilling sauces. Nummy
