Roll into a ball to make it work
This clay appears hard, crumbly and unusable but do not be deceived by your initial impression. Take off a chunk and start rolling it into a ball. The warmth from your hands alone will transform it before your very eyes into a very smooth and malleable ball in short time. The clay isn’t that firm at all and holds its malleability after its conditioned. Given time it seems to almost melt so I recommend baking it to hold its shape, especially if it’s carrying a lot of weight it might “sag”. We did not have to use conditioning product or heat to make this work. It’s better priced then other clays so we are using it for many of our projects.

Not exactly for beginners! Love it!
If you dont know how to use clay, dont get this. It takes a bit to get soft, but its suppose to be like that. Originally soft clay is hard to work with. After rolling it around a little, it gets soft and easy to use! Will be buying again! And its great for its price! It lasted me over half a year! There isnt much else to say but its probably my favorite clay ive used. Would recommend.

Not for noobies
This. Polyclay. Is. So. Hard.I haven't really done much with the fully baked clay yet. I've been working with polyclay for ages and ages at this point--I've tried a wide variety of formulae, including custom mixtures. This makes me think more of industrial plasticine for making old-school hand-sculpted like, tanks and car frame presentation models, where you have to keep it in a wax warmer to keep it malleable. More experienced polyclay artists might have learned the trick of using mineral oil to soften polyclay--this formula is not good for that, so I'm not really sure how else to soften it to a malleability that I'm comfortable with.On the bright side, it's incredibly sticky, so it loves to adhere to itself, even when partially baked. Additionally, when partially cured, it does carve quite nicely, even with an X-Acto blade that should've been replaced several weeks ago. I feel like you can tell this is a "newer" formulation because of the way a block completely crumbles, how sticky it is, how hard it is, how hard it is to blend out, and more. This formula could definitely be improved. If I was presently able to, I would probably try mixing this 2:1 with original Sculpey, more for added value and malleability than an actual improved formula, since the things that I'm sculpting aren't really "archival" if you will.

hard to use unless you know how - its not that hard to figure out though...
hard as a brick when it sits alone, withdrawn from the world. Put some in a zip lock bag and stick it in hot tap water. the heat will soften it, if you put the naked clay in water, well it doesn't absorb water so it just makes it difficult to knead until you work all the water out of it.If its too hard for you to work, add a tiny amount of coconut oil. it will soften as you knead it into the clay. if you use too much coconut oil, it will wind up like silly putty, being extremely soft and stretchy, so don't do that.Good clay for mold making or modeling shapes etc. it doesn't harden until baked though. so remember that when making complex molds as it will slump when unbaked.

its sticky and oily
well i am not impressed by this brand at all! Its sticky and very oily! I baked it as the instructions stated 212F for 20-30 minutes. My first bake of many i did @ 25 minutes, just a small test piece. Hrs after cooling it was NOT hard, or bendy, it broke and crumbled into pieces. As you can see in the many pictures i did many tests, mixing with several name brand polymer clays that i know are good and bake well. No matter how the mix, or adjusting bake times, did it make this product any better. I even did a couple control parts using Super Sculpey and Kato. They are small thin pieces, yet they are hard, and do not break. This product is unacceptable!

It's polymer clay. However, it was so DRY!
This block of clay was so old and so dried out that I could not work it at all with my hands. It was a completely hardened brick.Even after putting it through a food processor it was just crumbles that I could not make stick together. I processed, kneaded, ran through the food processor, pasta machine, rolled... Finally I used about 1/2 tube of vaseline to begin to soften the block. Which still took a trip through the food processor and a few through the pasta machine before it even slightly resembled clay. Still had clumps in it.It honestly took two days of fiddling to soften this block of clay.I know this happens and that any polymer clay can be conditioned when it gets dry, but I probably won't buy this again. I would have spent less money in labor time just by purchasing the tiny packets of fimo for this project. Especially if I could look at the date codes on the package.

You really have to condition this product
Yes, it’s harder than other brands, but that’s not a bad thing. It crumbles the first couple of times you put it through the pasta press. Once conditioned and run through your pasta maker or clay conditioning machine a few more times than I’m used to, this is a great product! I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners, but I see so many wonderful uses for this clay. Once I had some conditioned I made a small shape to experiment with. It has a rubbery texture so it doesn’t get misshapen with every tiny move. When baked, It’s vertually unbreakable. I dropped it on the ground and threw it across the room onto a hard floor and not a single chip. It sands wonderfully with about 200 grit sandpaper.I didn’t use all that I conditioned, so I put it in a resealable bag. When I went back to it, it was still conditioned. It hadn’t returned to the hardened state. It takes texturing better than any clay I’ve worked with. It’s extremely easy to smooth out. I absolutely love this clay for certain uses. Happy I gave it a chance and bought more. Give it a try!

Awesome deal! Not crumbling or hard after a min of kneeding.
I almost didn’t get this because so many people said it was hard and crumbling and not useable. When you get this it will crumble as you cut off a bit of it to use BUT after one min of kneeding it is perfect and it bakes great and it is very useful to have a lot of the basic colors. I think people just didn’t mess with it for a second. I have two colors of it and they work the same. Seems dry and unusable for only a minute and roll it around in your hands for a min and it is great. Amazing deal!

Es la mejor opción para modeling.
Es un poco dura para preparar (ablandar), pero ya que está lista, es la mejor opción para el equilibrio entre detalle y firmeza.

This ain't Play-Doh
This is a firm clay - which is actually a good thing, unless you're buying it for small children. It might take some kneading with strong adult hands to get it soft enough to work with. The firmness is good because it's going to hold the details you work into it. Soft clay will deform while you're holding it. You might sculpt the back of a head and find you've squished the nose flat just by gently holding it in your hand - you won't see that problem with a firm clay like this. This is a good low-cost alternative to Super Sculpey
