Pole is great. Could have a better real real. cap is difficult to get on and off. line was tangled up when it got here had you cut all Of it off. And start all over..

Easy for children to learn to fish with.

I bought this rod and reel as a birthday gift for my six year old son, because he wanted a “big boy” fishing rod to replace his little kiddy combo. I’ve had good luck with the Zebco 33 spincasting reels in the past, so I thought I was getting a quality product. The rod itself was fine, but the reel was total garbage. The drag did not work at all out of the package, and even catching a small bluegill with a pull drag. My son had to clamp the line to the pole and basically pole the fish in by hand. I had already thrown away the packaging before we discovered this when we took it out for his first fishing trip. I tried to take the reel apart and figure out how to fix it, but it’s so poorly constructed that the parts just fell out and broke. Ive repaired and rebuilt all kinds of reels before and never encountered one that’s so cheaply made. In my attempt to fix the drag, one of the plastic parts that held the reel together cracked. It was such a frustration that I just threw the stupid thing in the trash. I’ll repurpose the rod for an ultralight spinning setup for myself, but I ended up having to buy another new combo for my son. I can’t believe Zebco puts their name on this garbage. Again, I like the full size Zebco 33’s. But this particular micro 33 reel with the trigger is very poor quality.

Bought it for my 8 year old son. Still in one piece . IM-6 graphite composite rod is holding up. The real well ... I changed the line to 6 pound test. After it tangled up inside . Then had to cut the line out and add new line . All sad and dune . About 20 minutes. Cast a lot better with lighter line for smaller ligjter lures . I even bought last years model with the fome handle for my nephew.

I’ve had this setup in the past and loved it. The problem is screw that holds the crank falls out when you’re not paying attention. I ordered two combos the same day from Amazon. They shipped separately. The first one showed up in a box big enough to ship a 60 inch tv. The rod tip was sticking out of the box. The was no padding/bubble wrap in the box. The reel was missing the crank and screw. Great job Amazon👍🏼. I’m not gonna knock the product, just the person who packed it.

This combination works great for fishing creeks and small streams. I changed the 10lb. line to 4lb. as I thought 10lb. was a little heavy for creek fishing. Reel is smooth as silk. Rod is very sensitive to the smallest nibbles. It casts light 1/64 oz. lures very well.

I bought this for a lighter setup for brook trout and panfish after years of just fishing fly. I have had it on the water 4 times so far, no issues. Today I was into a good spot for pumpkinseed and sunfish, the combo worked very well for them. To my surprise a 14" smallmouth hit, it gave the rod a workout but I was able to net the bass (not what I would have used if I suspected that fish but the combo held up). Will be thinking about another setup as my wife fishes as well.
