NPET Cat Water Fountain WF050TP 1.5L Automatic Pet Drinking Fountain

This fountain makes the most pleasant sound and the kitties absolutely love it. So right there is a huge win. It was easy enough to assemble and the pump works very well and its easy to clean. I've had it for about 2 months running non-stop. Recently we went out of town and I set up a camera to monitor kitties (on stool directed at fountain and food bowls). I tuned into it and heard a sound I knew was the pump as the cat was jumping away from it. I was mad since I hadn't had it for long. I called a neighbor and they came over and unplugged the pump. I emailed the company and told them that my pump had already broken and was making an awful noise and to please get me a new one asap. They immediately responded that a new one was on the way and that they were extremely sorry for the inconvenience. Well, when I got home a few days later, I realized that the cats had just drank so much that the fountain had run out of water above the pump. I was not broken, it just had no water, so the noise was it moving air. I cleaned the unit, put in the pump I thought was broken back in with water and plugged it in. It worked like a dream! So even after hours of it running with no water, it still worked great. It's been at least 10 days since then and it still works beautifully. I have emailed the company thanking them for their amazing customer service and also offering to pay for the new pump they sent since the original one wasn't really broken or defective. To me any customer service this amazing is priceless. So like I said, this fountain is a no brainer as it works great, the cats love it, it's inexpensive, and the company backs it 100% with no questions asked.

Update: I was just watching my cat drink from this fountain more than 25 months after buying it. He still loves it and uses it often and the pump is still going strong. As I noted in my original review the sensor is a big draw for my cat. He loves making it turn on and he like the spout to drink from. He stopped drinking from several other fountains before I go him this one so both of us are still really happy and we definitely recommend this fountain more than two years later. My cat likes to drink from faucets and water glasses and pretty much anything that is NOT a bowl of water by his food. He won't touch water by his food. He'd rather drink from a toilet or the bottom of a house plant. Obviously we don't want him doing that. We had another fountain that just bubbled out of a little tower and ran down the side but my cat got bored with it and would always be on the counters whenever we were at a faucet wanting to drink from it. I was actually looking for a occupancy sensor to retro fit to one of our faucets for him when I found this fountain. Since it has a spout like a faucet I decided to give it a try. Glad I did. The cat loves it. It holds a lot and he drains it quickly. I think the sensor helps too. I think he likes that it turns on for him when he approaches it. He likes to play with it. We've had it for a while now and he's still using it and is no longer bugging us every time we turn on a faucet. I only use one riser with the spout and it's pretty quite when it's on. It comes with two but if you use both the spout is higher but it makes more noise. There is a tab on the risers that locks the spout facing forward. That makes it hard for the cat to drink for the bowl if they want as the water flow is in the way. I filed off the tab so the spout can be turned to one side. This leaves room to access the bowl. My can't doesn't drink from it but he paws at it and was making quite the mess when the water flow was in the way and splashing everywhere. It's pretty quick and easy to clean and came with a sponge and brushes for getting into the tubes and pump. I fill it with R.O. filtered water. That helps a lot with bacteria growth. I only clean it every other week and it still feels pretty clean. But with unfiltered water it needs it once a week or it will get cloudy and slimy. The fact that it's clear plastic helps you see that which is nice. The filters are pretty cheap and I change them about every other cleaning. I like the design too. Some designs have the filter in the water which defeats the whole purpose as everything the filter collects is still soaking in the water. This filter only sees water when it flows which is how it should be. About the only con I can think of is that the top fits pretty tightly with a smooth seam which can making getting it off harder then it should be. But it's a minor issue and about the only one I can think of. It's not too loud but I definitely recommend getting the sensor to keep it from running all the time. The pump will last longer as will the filters. I wasn't sure about this fountain but it's been a winner with me and the cat.

I have a love-hate relationship with this fountain, but I love it more than hate it. I've had this fountain for close to three years, which I think is long enough to have the clear picture of both the pros and the cons. On the plus side, the pets all love it. All three of the cats and even both small dogs. The cats especially like the running water, and because they like it, the pets do drink more water and stay better hydrated. It also has a nice vibe. It looks good, or at least novel, and the quiet babble of the running water is pleasant. I feel like the pets get cleaner water than they would from a bowl. The clear plastic makes it easy to see the water level at a glance, and day to day refills are really easy, because I just pour water in - except when it's time to clean it. This leads to the downside. When you do need to clean it, it's really kind of a hassle. You have to pry things apart and disassemble stuff just to clean it, and although the parts are pretty cleanly designed overall, there are some nooks and crannies that are harder to clean, and you need a straw/bottle brush for the inside of the fountain tubing. The worst part is cleaning the pump. You have to pry open a little cover to get to the innards and clean them, or eventually it stops working. I had to dig around on the website the first time I had to do this to figure out how. It's kind of a hassle, but it does become more routine after you've done it a few times. Fortunately, I don't need to do it all THAT often. I'm guessing that this is what's actually going on for some of the reviews that complain that the pump stopped working. The pump itself seems well designed and very simple. I would be quite surprised if it gave me any trouble any time soon (except for cleaning). The hassle is enough to bring it down from 5 stars to 4, but it's not bad enough to be a deal breaker, and except for the annoyance of the periodic full cleanings, the pets and I love it.

I've been through several water bowls of various designs. This is the first one my cat has actually used more than once. My cat decided he didn't like tap or Brita water one day and went on a thirst strike. Since then, I've purchased one of those six-point filtration systems for the sink, which he enjoys greatly. The only problem is that I have to turn it on for him when he's thirsty (God forbid I teach him how to turn it on, he won't care enough to turn it off). This current process involved him herding me every time he was thirsty. I've purchased regular water bowls, he hates it. Water bowls with little bubblers, ones with streams and carbon filters, even one with little gets of water. He hates them all. This one most closely resembles the faucet being on, AND HE LOVES IT! The motion sensor is also very nice because the sudden movement entices him even more. Now that I've written my life story like an online recipe... The product feels like it's made of a similar plastic to those Nalgene bottles (unconfirmed for sure, though). It was surprisingly easy to assemble and it looks easy enough to clean with a sponge, though they also provided a straw brush for the pump tubing. I like the look of it, it's not gaudy, but certainly not hokey or cheap looking. It has a small enough footprint and a long-enough cable that I plugged it in on one end of my bookcase and have it on the other end. The cable lengths seem a little silly at first because the fountain has a long cable for the pump, but then the motion sensor plugs into that and also has a long cable (meaning I have a bundle of cables next to the water bowl from the pump to the sensor), but I totally understand the practicality of manufacturing and allowing customization between products. Overall, great product and I would recommend to anyone with a fussy cat.

Our kitty, YinYin, has been drinking from the sink fountain since the first day she told me she was now my kitty 19 years ago. But, lately, she's starting to misgauge her jump to the countertop so I thought a fountain would be good for her. She was a slow learner - it baffled her, but she was willing to do it, sticking her head in too far, getting wet whiskers (oh no!), and not being able to judge the distance from nose to water very well. This I owe to her age, her poor vision, plus, she's deaf so the water sounds provided no spatial clues. BUT, once she got on to it, she loves it. She's even drinking more water now because we don't have to be around to turn on the sink and her bowl, which I filled 3x a day but with tap water, is now always filtered, fresh and sweet. Her little tongue flicks the soft stream of filtered water and she enjoys the experience of drinking. Another thing is great: the angle of her head with this water stream ensures she does not get air down her throat as she sometimes would get with the sink. (Fewer spit-ups) She sits next to the fountain and purrs . . (makes my heart happy) so she might be enjoying the soft buzz of the pump too. The sound is rather comforting to us. It's a soft tinkle that has become background like a soft rain outside. The pump only makes noise if the water is low. Cleaning is pretty simple. Getting the pump apart required a nail file to pop the top off to clean the rotor - which has never been dirty at all. I'll order more filters but so far (2 months) the first one has done very well with the weekly washing and replacement. I'll use the second filter included in the kit today when I clean as the instruction suggest a filter change at 2 months, The kit comes with all the small brushes you need to get into every little nook. I use filtered water from the fridge door so it's sweet, chilled, and pleasant smelling. Now, she goes to the sink faucet to drink and I think the chemical smell of the tap water now turns her off. She turns up her nose and quickly scampers to her personal waterfall with joy. PLEASE NOTE: during that training and transition period, even with bowls out for her, she did get dehydrated and required some medical IV hydration intervention. After she was healthy again, (we didn't know what was wrong with her) she happily went for her new fountain and has enjoyed it ever since. So this is something to be mindful of. She's back healthy and being a happy elderly kitty now.

I bought this to replace a cat fountain I bought years ago that had broken. Previous cats we have owned had kidney issues, and the vet has always recommended encouraging drinking by having a perpetual fountain like this or by leaving a faucet trickling. This fountain is very good overall, here are my pros and cons: Pros: - It is transparent, so you can easily see the water level, and whether the water is "dirty", etc. - It is a simple attractive design, and is small enough that it doesn't get in the way. - The fountain is very quiet. The only time I hear it al all is when the water level gets a little low, and is dripping between the filter and the reservoir. (Or when my cats are noisily lapping at the water.) - The fountain is (mostly) easy to clean. The relatively simple design is pretty much two big sections (top and bottom). The top contains the compartment with the replaceable filter and the spout. The bottom is just the water reservoir and where the small pump is placed/submerged. - The filter is easy to get to, and replacements are easy to obtain. I have also found aftermarket (non-OEM) filters that are cheaper. - The price. This is the correct price point for a fountain like this. - Our cats love it. Cons: - It holds an overall smaller volume of water than I had hoped. It is less a gallon (1.5l = ~.4 gallons,) so it needs to be refilled a bit more frequently. The good news is that it can easily be refilled by (slowly) pouring fresh water in the top. (The filter is a simple gravity feed between the top "bowl" and the lower reservoir, so if it doesn't drain well when refilling, that's a good indicator that filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced.) - Like any similar fountain, they do need to be dismantled and cleaned periodically. This design is simpler than others I have used, and it is isn't difficult to clean, per se, but it isn't dishwasher safe (at least that isn't recommended by the manufacturer,) so a thorough hand cleaning is necessary. (It can get a little slimy if you let it go too long.) Definitely pay attention to the pump intake and the filter areas. - The only thing that is occasionally finicky is the correct placement of the pump in the lower reservoir. The feed pipe to the spout on top can be a little fussy to align properly when putting it back together. - I am cheap and I manually clean the filters in an effort to reuse them a few times before replacing them. I have tried running it without a filter, which is possible, but it makes it much more likely that dust and pet hair will build up on and block the pump water intake, reducing the flow and potentially shortening the life of the pump itself. Bottom line: Use the filters and thoroughly clean the fountain every couple of weeks. - The pump power cord is USB only, and they do not include a power adapter to plug into an AC wall outlet. This wasn't a big deal for me as I have USB ports in a nearby outlet. Plus, in any modern home, most folks will have extra USB wall adapter laying around, but you will need one to plug it in. - Newer versions of this fountain appear to a water level sensor that helps protect the pump, but if you have the model I have, if the water level gets too low, the pump cannot operate. I thought it had burned out a couple of times, but after a good deep cleaning and rinsing, it has always restored to full flow and quiet operation. Again, overall, I really like the fountain, and would recommend.

Pros: It’s quiet and it lasted a long time. Even when I let the water level get too low and it was sucking air, it still lasted 3 years. It’s inexpensive and so are the filters. My cats liked it and if you have a cat who likes to flip the lid off that won’t be an issue with this model. That lid is on snug. Cons: It’s quiet. I couldn’t always tell when the water level had fallen below the minimum level because I couldn’t hear it. IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN. There are several tiny pieces you have to take off the pump and even then there are angles and corners that need a lot of elbow grease and creativity to reach. Then there is the actual fountain tube. It’s so narrow you can’t get anything wider than a pipe cleaner in it but it’s plastic so it needs to be scrubbed. The tube is so long that you can’t scrub the walls of the tube with whatever you found that is thin enough to get inside it. Not even the little bottle brush style straw cleaners worked. The top of the tube does comes off which has a little space at the top to stop the water from shooting out forcefully but it too is too small to clean. I’m honestly glad it finally broke. Now the dreaded weekly process is finally over.

I purchased this product in late May now it’s already broken. The motor stopped working completely. I tried to take it off and cleaned it which didn’t work. Just wrote to the seller and currently waiting for a response. Will update here according.

La fuente de agua es buena, a mi gato, que es quisquilloso, le gustó mucho. Lo único malo es que la bomba se descompuso antes de cumplir 6 meses de funcionamiento, y tuve que comprar una nueva, duró prácticamente nada.

Funciona perfecto, el sensor muy bien, Los Gatos Felices. El único detalle es que no hay detección de nivel bajo se agua.

Update: So for some reason I thought that this fountain had an auto shut off. We went away for 4 days and by the time we got back the water was halfway below the minimum line and still trying to pump. Everything seems fine, but I'm just a little disappointed. This is not am issue of the product, but simply just a mix up after looking at many of these. I mist have gotten a few mixed and thought this had the auto shut off. Anyway, it still holds up otherwise! And both our cats are now using it, so it's doing exactly what it needs to do! I've had this for just over a week now. So far I'm happy with my purchase as it meets my expectations. It looks nice; I like that it is clear and that I can see the water level in it so I know when to add more, I like that it doesn't light up because we keep it in our bedroom and honestly I feel like lights would bother the cats when trying to drink. I do find that this fountain entices my cats to drink more water which is what I intended to happen. Naturally it took a bit of getting used to for my cats (one took longer than the other) but now they are both drinking from it. It is quiet, but not silent as that would be near impossible to do woth a motor. It is quiet enough that it doesn't bother me when I sleep (and I'm a super light sleeper), in fact the trickling of water is kind of nice, peaceful if you would. I've cleaned it out once so far and it was a very quick and easy task to accomplish, as was the initial set up. I expected there to be more fur and slime build up in it (my friends fountain always did), but there was maybe a couple hairs in it at best? For the price point it is fantastic. I was looking at other fountains but they were costly and didn't have as good of reviews as this one. I would absolutely recommend this to friends and family.

Honestly the best product I’ve got for my cats till now. They can’t seem to get enough of it 😂
