D.R. Harris & Co. Windsor Shaving Cream Bowl 150g

I have used D.R. Harris hard soap with excellent results for many years now. But hard soap is a bit difficult to travel with; it’s bulky and takes a lot of space in a suitcase. So, I decided to try D.R. Harris cream. What I have found is that it’s easy to use and every bit as good as the hard soap. Some men build shaving lather in a bowl or mug. Some build their lather in the palm of a hand. But I’m more practical; I just build my lather on my face. The result is not the richest and most-abundant lather possible. But I do get a good, fit-to-purpose lather. I apply a TINY amount of D.R. Harris cream to my wet brush (literally about a pea-sized bit of cream), apply that directly to my wet face, and spend 30-60 seconds working that on my face into a great lather. Enough remains on the brush for a second pass. This technique is easy, fast, doesn’t require a bowl/mug, and doesn’t require any extra cleanup. For travel or for daily use, this is my preferred technique and it works well for me. I’m on my second tube of this cream and really like it. Because I literally use a pea-sized dab of it, a tube goes a long way (which is analogous to D.R. Harris hard soap too) making it a good value. Keep in mind that the scent in shaving lather products is just to cover up the smell of the raw soap and make the shaving process more pleasant for the shaver. It’s not supposed to persist, and D.R. Harris’s doesn’t. It leaves you unscented and ready for whatever cologne you prefer. Perfect.

UPDATE: I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I think the reason the volume looked so low is that the density of the cream seems pretty high. What this translates into is that it doesn't appear that I'm using much for each daily shave and it seems to be really lasting a long time. I will most likely be keeping this in my rotation on an ongoing basis, it is a bit more expensive but the scent is one of the best I've had with my shaving creams. Like most of the other reviews, I really like the scent of this shave cream and it does a great job of creating a slick and comfortable shave. It's easy to lather and doesn't take much cream. The reason for the lower review is because the tub I received was only about 1/2 to 3/4 full. I'm not sure if this was a manufacturing issue or if there was an issue with my seller. You can see the attached picture to see what I mean. I took this picture immediately after opening the tub and you can pretty easily see how low the cream sits in the container. Not sure if I'll reorder, I really like the scent and the cream itself but it is a little more pricey then most of the creams I purchase. In either case I would certainly order from a different seller the next time to see if that changed what I received.

I've probably used 8 or 9 different shave creams over the years, including several expensive English ones, but this brand immediately turned out to be my favourite and most recommended. The texture is smooth and consistent without lumps, the scent is great but doesn't haunt you all day, it lubricates well, and it only takes a small amount for a full beard lather. I don't write reviews often, but I can't say enough about how much I love this stuff!!

Arlington is a uniquely clean, fresh scent that is described as a blend of citrus and fern. More accurately, it smells very similar to Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford. The cream whips up into a wonderfully rich lather within seconds. It offers plenty of slickness and protection for the razor to glide over which means it delivers excellent results every time. D.R. Harris is among the best of the British shaving creams and is a must try for any wet shaver. Highly recommended! My product came in a white plastic tube with violet print, different from the pictured one. The scent is very light and could be bit stronger to my taste but it is a classic and natural lavender. Consistency is great, good slip and protection. Amongt the best in this department. The only rival I can think of is the castle forbes lavender which is amazing but difficult to get and does not come in a convenient tube.

I just finished this jar of shaving cream last month, I purchased it 9 months ago. Aside from excellent longevity this shaving cream has nice cushion and smells very clean. I use this shaving cream with a badger hair brush and double edge razor. The shaving cream lathers very well with a little bit of water; from my experience, after a few seconds a large thick lather builds up that will last for multiple passes. The scent of the shaving cream is rose, it literally smells as if you put your face into a dozen roses. PROS: - Awesome longevity, this jar lasted me 9 months, I used it daily - Has excellent cushion - Clean scent, it literally smells as if you put your face into a dozen roses CONS: - The screw top jar is a bit flimsy Country of Origin: England

Best shave cream for use with a shaving brush I have ever found and I have tried them all.

Smells great, reminds me of sugar cookies. Nice lather and shave.

I bought this shaving cream based on other reviews I had read. It is a little pricey, but it performs so well. It has a pleasant, intriguing scent which isn't strong to the point of conflicting with aftershave. The lather is outstanding and cushion, slickness and glide which are what wet shavers look for were up there with the very best. I would highly recommend this shaving cream
